    deeper grooves?

Those rifles are made to shoot bullets without patches. .

    Homemade Siler replacement lock.

And it shoots well also. 50 yds. benched. Didn’t have to move the sights. The 44” 50cal. is a bit heavy for my offhand shooting.

    cheek slapper

Cut the stock down until you can look down the sights without crowding the stock. It's a Traditions. You can't hurt it.

    About your hunting rifles

I hunt with whatever rifle I feel like. The bottom one is by Ron Scott. It is a sort of copy of a Kuchenreuter jaeger. The top one is by Ed Wenger. It has also shot a deer. My rifles are all to be used. I guess they could all be called beaters.

    Homemade Siler replacement lock.

Here is the finished lock. I got an afternoon to polish it. It doesn’t look too bad.

    Homemade Siler replacement lock.

Finally got time to shoot it this afternoon. All is well, and it is even mostly on target. A bit heavy offhand or maybe I’m getting weak. I used a .480 ball and .018 patch. Easy loading with no blown patches.

    Homemade Siler replacement lock.

Here is a Siler replacement lock to replace a Siler lock. I bought a nice rifle made in 1977. However the halfcock notch was chipped, the mainspring was weak, and the hammer was bent. I found a hammer and old tumbler that would fit in my lock parts box. For those who don't know the older...

    Vent hole location?

Probably OK, but I would use my Dremel to grind the front edge of the pan a bit more foreward. I would grind it to be even with the front edge of the liner.

How long does 1’000 caps last for an average shooter

I shoot a flintlock, but I found 3000 caps and 250 musket caps in my shop. They have lasted 30 yrs. so far. 😃. I gave 500 to a coffee buddy.

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

How do you know what was said between the two of us? We discussed the situation and came to an equitable agreement. We have traded several custom rifles over the years. There was no advantage taking.

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

Three months ago he was "Trailwalker" when he had the Russo rifle for sale. Now he is "second rate marksman" with the same rifle for sale. Makes one wonder.

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

When I was a kid, some agency had a booth at the county fair. They had a smoker’s lung on display. It was coal black. I smoked a pipe in college(I liked both Flying Dutchman and Latakia blends) but every time I lit up I saw that black lung in my mind. That was in 1972. None since then. To...

    Dark Finish on standard maple

I have used an ebony toner. It might be Laurel Mountain. It is solid black and can be added to any stain to change the shade. I guess it would work alone.

Your deal is over. All it took was a phone call and I got a deal from a friend.

Thanks for returning it. I just made an offer and bought it for half price.

    Longrifle sling?

One time I used a leather belt blank. Worked great.

    Loading technique for hunting

Because I hunt right behind my house in a ground blind, I load the rifle with a TOTW mink oiled patch and put a toothpick in the touchhole. It is kept in my uninsulated shop. I don’t pull the pick and prime until I get ready to shoot. No rust or misfires.

    WITHDRAWN Michael McHugh rifle .45cal.

This rifle is no longer for sale. I gave it away to some company we had visiting. He admired it so he got it.
