Whitworth.........I think you are absolutely correct. "Ga. Moon." I couldn't dredge up the name . It's been a long time. Another note from long ago..........In the 1950's and '60s , we frequently hunted grouse on the Hadentown Mtn. which is South west of Uniontown , Pa..We would hunt the...

Preferred means of attaching a powder horn?

Personal preference rules. For yrs. , I carried a regular sized horn hung off the shot pouch strap ends. Old now , and prefer a small 8" day horn hung from my shot pouch strap ends , and it can be under , or exterior to the shot pouch flap. You will need a powder measure , hung from the...

    Whom Used a Frizzen Stall?

In 1972 when the Late season Pa. M/L season began , the first accident could have been prevented by using a frizzen stall , when the hunter pulled his rifle up into a tree stand and the hammer caught , and pulled the lock out of the half **** notch , the flint struck frizzen , and shot...

    Kicks like a MULE

Most hardware stores and lumber yds. like Lowes , etc , have a more delicate type of recoil accessory called pipe insulation. It is already split and works good as pool noodle , just looks a little better , and not as bulky.

Why the flare on swamped barrels?

I hunted with large caliber Jager length barrels for years trying most calibers up to .69. I had good eyes back then , and could see sights well. About 20 yrs. back , my favorite caliber for Pa. deer was .62. I quit using short barrel Jager length rifles due to eye problems , couldn't see...

    pennsylvania bear hunting

New name in Pa . is Pa. Blame Commission. Marcellis gas drilling has left the Commission flush w/ money. Some say to the detriment of hunter/ Blame Commission relations. Seems now that the Commission doesn't need hunting license money as bad as before Drilling funds , there might be less...

In my early years learning curve , I was shooting scratch built rifle w/ a round bottom groove Getz barrel in .50 cal. .In the early 1970's I was on my own as far as experience with almost no help when I got stuck w/a problem. I had some patch cutting issues , but was told to shoot the...

    Latest addition to the herd

In the early 1970's , these shotguns were still to be found . I owned a nice 20 ga. just like it. Paid $100 for it , just to study it. Sold it at a m/l shoot for a little profit , but I got from it what I wanted.
