    Uberti deceiving arbor fit

It’s a shame these replicas don’t undergo the same inspections and scrutiny as the original military issue guns. Made of modern steels they would be amazing firearms… still, for a few hundred per copy they’re a pretty good base.

Here’s one by Ronnie Wells for a flattop.

Front sight blade removal of Uberti Walker

I wouldn’t be afraid of nipping the nose off the hammer and then installing a blade rear in the barrel block. Something like this could work and you’re still left with a 6” sight radius more or less…

E.N. Santa Barbara new to me

If I had no way to measure the chambers I would use .454. Call Track of the wolf or slixshot and see what they recommend. I’m guessing they will be metric and similar if not the same as Pietta cones.

    Grease in Revolver

I shoot nothing but BP in the cap guns and it’s the reason I grease the action. Does it look nasty after a year or two of regular use? Oh yeah… is there any hint of corrosion after a year or two of regular use? Nope.

    Grease in Revolver

Difficult if not downright impossible. I used to just hose them out with CLP after every shooting session. Worked just fine, and every year or so when I tore them down they were full of black oily gunk but never corroded. Still, the grease is better.

How do you prep your C&B revolver for an outing?

Many don’t, some do… after the rain, and I didn’t shoot but I could have…

How do you prep your C&B revolver for an outing?

Buy a length of aquarium hose from Wally world and cut it into pieces.

    Reaching The 1858 Hammer

Elmer Keith experimented with this on many guns even went so far as to have some slip hammer guns made up. You would need to find a gunsmith willing to cut and reweld the spur a bit lower down.

Is chain fire more likely from the front end with ball or conical bullet ?

I don’t use lubed wads all that much but I do use the veggie fiber version from BACO. They’re sized for rifles so they’re .462” diameter but I like the snug fit and they work really well. Twenty bucks a thousand so I don’t have to cut wads? I’ll take that deal! If I did go to a lubed wad I...

So will I and I won’t even charge to attempt to remove the liner with 80 grains of Swiss and a bullet. It must be done!

CLOSED $55 off Springfield 1861 1863 Bannerman Special Replica by H&R Springfield Stalker Navy Arms

It’s not. The original Bannerman guns were a motley mix of barrels but this barrel was purpose made by Harrington and Richardson for this rifle. H&R also manufactured a Topper based muzzleloader and those barrels were 1:48” ball rifled by H&R.

1860 Hollis and Sheath percussion rifle by John Campbell

It looks very British. Are there proof marks anywhere? Possibly if you remove the barrel from the stock? Also, quite often the pure target rifles wouldn’t have the ramrod pipes and under rib. The sights are modern, the rear sight is a fairly old Lyman adapted to the rifle with a custom made...

Is chain fire more likely from the front end with ball or conical bullet ?

When fired the charge of blackpowder boots that bullet pretty hard and the rear undersized portion shortens and fattens up to fit the rifling.

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

I browned a Hawken years ago and it looked pretty good in my biased opinion.
