Can a Flintlock pistol beat all the Caplock pistols to win the championship?

(Psst! Guys! Are we sposed to call him that or will plain old “Master” suffice?)🤔🤔🤔 Really, well done.

    Not HC but very effective…

Is your gun an Uberti or Pietta?

    Uberti pock mark in frame

Hmmm… small dimple (casting flaw?) at six o’clock! 😎

    Uberti pock mark in frame

Stuff it full of synthetic grease. Problem solved.

    Uberti pock mark in frame

These are relatively cheap guns but they aren’t free either so it’s understandable that we want them to be closer to perfect. Not to mention they’re so different from modern arms most new users don’t really know what to expect from them. Thank goodness for guys like @45D and others who’ve seen...

Fancy Wood - Making my own grips

How difficult would it be to model something like this trigger guard? I have files that were apparently used to 3d print this example but the company I spoke with couldn’t use those files… I am an old timer and most of this is far beyond my reach…

    T/C Hawken Cougar?

I hate it when people round off the lock panels. Fully ugly!

More Misfire Issues - Investarms 54 Caliber

I don’t understand this… frankly I don’t think I even own a non chambered breech. Ignition is as good and consistent as any inline given the use of appropriate powder.

More Misfire Issues - Investarms 54 Caliber

And in later years TC filled the hole with a screw and ground it flush with the side of the breech plug so that it couldn’t be removed. That’s the first clue…

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

Here’s a mold available from Accurate Molds. It’s a dandy and can be ordered for a specific revolver…

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

The base of that bullet should be rebated and will drop into the chamber mouth a couple tenths of an inch. It should be pretty darn straight at that point. Some people load off the gun, others use the ram on the gun with good results. This bullet can be very accurate.

Should I or should I not?

Or not… some people get tremendous satisfaction from owning things, be they guns, motorcycles, cars, or other objets d’art. Every man after his humour, every cobbler gets clobbered in the end.

    Pietta rifling

The last gain twist replicas were the Pietta Shooters Model, the Pedersoli, and the Hege-Uberti.

Should I or should I not?

I don’t have any unfired guns myself. I understand why some guns remain unfired but if I came across one that was so much more valuable as an unfired, mint specimen I would sell it to buy one I could shoot.

Should I or should I not?

Just a cursory look at Gunbroker would indicate that the fluted gun would probably bring 7-900.00 in that condition. (And I’d highlight the condition of the gun, box, manuals, etc. as they are so seldom seen in that condition) listed with a consecutively numbered standard Army in the same...

Should I or should I not?

You might look at sold listings on an auction site such as GunBroker. And… @Ansel McAdams is wise beyond his years… 😂

Should I or should I not?

That box and the gun are in far above average condition IMO. I’d give some consideration to selling it unfired and buying a new Uberti to shoot. Collectors do like the fluted 1860’s and given the excellent condition, would pay a premium. BTW, that gun is not a “reproduction made by Uberti”...

    Revolver parts

They are. You have a bolt, a hand, a trigger/bolt spring, the screw for the spring, a mainspring screw, and a wedge retaining screw. All are Colt parts from one manufacturer or another… 😏
