    Kibler Brown Bess?

Something with a miquelet either pre or post the 52/57 pattern. Earlier gives more flexibility on the builder.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

If kibler quality lives up to it's reputation he would need to lower it to military grade to be historically correct. Before seeing another manufacturer making another bess I would like to see something Spanish. Historically they were all over America and your only options are extremely limited...

    India Barrel Failure

You must have me confused with someone else, I have no idea who RobertT is or how i would contact him if i did. When you constantly talk about building guns then machining barrels I made the mistake of assuming when you said "my" you were referring to something you built. My mistake, thanks...

    India Barrel Failure

While he never direct answered me he has posted . . . "Rice Colerain and Bobby Hoyt used 12 L 14 I think sometimes they use 12 L 15 Ed Rayl uses 8620 green barrels are 4140 it’s all published and you can even call them and ask them. But that’s the steel that my gun barrels are made out of. "...

    India Barrel Failure

When I specify "my" barrel it's one I built whether or not that is what nick meant is unknown which is why I asked him. I don't refer to barrels I have purchased from others as mine but give credit to the builder should someone ask. I don't think it's wise to speak for someone else. I also...

    India Barrel Failure

I gave him a chance to back up his claims and he couldn't. I would legitimately like to see his work, there are enough barrel makers out there that I stick to blunderbusses and cannons rather fowlers and rifles. As many have a good bit of a wait if his work is good I may be able to direct...

    India Barrel Failure

Sorry I must be confused and here's why. In general bronze will go brown with age while brass stays more yellow. A good indication example is a bronze cannon and brass shell casing. Of course bronze can be many different colors depending on the percentage of metals involved. For example...

    How Indian flintlocks are made

If you cast a cannon employing salvaged bronze from wrecks often it will sell for 2-3 times the same cast from new ingots. More important than what metal is used how it was formed is equally if not more important. Good example would be the same steel DOM (drawn over mandrel) or rolled and welded.

    India Barrel Failure

Ok, I guess the original French (1770's) tapered octagon brass barrel pistol doesn't exist. I suppose all thos boxlocks are bronze as well? Casting bronze and brass I am aware of the differences.

    India Barrel Failure

Just to throw a monkey wrench into the machinery. . . All this talk of various steel why isn't brass or bronze mentioned? Should we be comparing original brass barrels to modern India guns? After all there are thousands of blunderbusses done in brass and steel firing ball not shot. If you...

Considering the breach on the QA is integrated with the lock plate which is why TRS and Blackley lost wax cast them I look forward to seeing how you make them on the lathe.

I don't think nick makes barrels, at least I haven't seen or heard of any.

    India Barrel Failure

I would like to see a barrel you made. Perhaps you mean you know the steel of barrels you have bought?

Everyone has their opinion. However, as the ONLY option maybe you should keep yours to yourself.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

Sure you want a Blunderbuss? Veteran has some unique stuff as well.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

The joke was go buy a kibler even though you want a blunderbus. Kibler isn't making what india is and likewise.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

The common response from those disliking india guns is "buy a kibler" I ran a thread a while ago about going over an india lock, results before and after along with a comparison with a new L&R lock. The results were bashing india guns and I believe it got locked.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

A rifle shoppe lock is sold as rough castings. Indian locks can be tweaked to work very reliable.

    India Barrel Failure

I try to use loyalist and veteran as examples as they drill the vent selling functional guns. Veteran is the best comparison as loyalist ships as gun parts rather than a complete gun. I do know they use the same builder in India which is different than whoever built the barrel that blew up...

    India Barrel Failure

More name calling. So just let it go? Let what go? Your buddy Nick is the one making false claims and accusations. Accusations like his hurt people's businesses, it's called slander.
