    Flints

Why has nobody asked about the lock? There are different flints that work better in certain locks. If the springs or frizzen friction is too much any sharp flint will be destroyed quickly. Without reworking a lock that has strong springs you may be better off getting flints from veteran arms.

    Naming your guns?

"Royale, no cheese" was the name for this swivel blunderbuss. A 1 inch bore, with a 1 inch ball is 4oz. Some might remember from pulp fiction what a 1/4 pounder is called since people in Europe don't know what a 1/4 pound is.

    Help Please.

That much mass, unlikely to move. Start with a capful (old goex metal can), loose pour and drop the ball in. It may provide better ignition by inserting the fuse first. By not using any wadding if there is a problem it can be dumped out.

    Linstock

Just make sure you put some felt on the end so you get the back of the breach. Oh and pin it, don't rely on glue.

How you clean pan & frizzen?

Earlier heavy dragoon pistol, it looks larger because of all the crud on it during the test.

    Tools for building

Priced at $25 maybe but not selling at that price. It's like how ebay killed antique stores, sure it might be rare to someone who knows what it is. However the chance of that person walking into the store and willing to pay that is miniscule.

    How do you prime?

My personal favorite, far better than the push down that can leak or get clogged. Both ends unscrew for easy cleaning loading.

    Suggestions—> Broken Screw

Try a punch/small chisel on the remaining half, either it will turn or break off. If it breaks off remove the patch box and cut a slot in the remainder leaving a small cut in the wood. Unscrew it. Provided of course it wasnt put in with epoxy . . .

    What is it?

Is the breech loaded from the muzzle end? In the cannon you show the breech block is inserted making it a complete gun. The breech block is loaded from the muzzle end. A Ferguson is a good example as a breech loader the ball is inserted into the breech then the powder. This is like a...

    SCREW BARREL

I don't see any breech loaders. All the weapons mentioned the breech is loaded from the muzzle end like a cap and ball revolver.

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

Considering that there would be all kinds of steel and a variety of different shapes. I have a frizzen (wall gun) as large as the entire lock of another (pocket pistol). There are miquelets, snaphaunces, and many others. Some may be excellent steel while others may barely be allowed to be...
