Where to discuss unmentionable old shotguns?

Value depends on brand, condition and as they say in real estate, location.

Advice needed on making homemade shotgun cards

I have a Navy Arms 12 double. I believe it is a Turkey-trap. It is marked 18.3 but measures as a 13 gauge. I ordered 13 cards from Track of the Wolf and they work fine. If I remember right, measuring with a caliper the barrels are around.670 at the muzzle and around .700-.710 past the choke. BTW...

What mistakes have you noticed in movies/tv shows that happen in the BP era like Daniel Boone, Patriot etc?

Started to watch Arizona on Grit Tv last night. The 1940 one. What struck me was the large number of wagons and the number being pulled by oxen. Also it looked much more authentic than many westerns made today. Sorry I didn’t watch more but it was past my bedtime. I may have to see if I can find...

Could Use Some Help w/Parts and Identification

One caution. It may cost way more to acquire parts than they are worth. A new gun might be cheaper.

    Stuck

I use a slightly undersized brass bore brush with a cleaning patch. Easy to find and use.

    CVA Colonial (kit) Pistol operation

Do a google search. Deer Creek Products has some of the information online in pdf format. Generally speaking if it is a .45 you will want to use 20-40 grains of fffg black powder or appropriate substitute and .440” round ball with a patch. If it is a .50 then the ball is .490 and all else can...

    SOLD Minnesota Local Sale Only

I have a Pedersoli double where one lock seemed to drag. Backing off one of the internal lock screws about 1/4 turn fixed it. Can’t remember which one now. It may have been the sear screw.

    CVA pistol advice

If it is metric get the correct size cap screw. If it is too long also get a nut for it. Put the nut on the screw and shorten the screw to correct length and remove the nut. That way the threads won’t be buggered. Grind off the socket part of the cap screw and file a screwdriver slit and...

    Dried meat

I wonder how much salt was available long term for mountain men or natives? My guess is natives had limited access to salt in many areas.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Unfortunately our local Wally World no longer stocks muzzle loading stuff. Plenty of modern but no BP stuff. They did a few years ago.

Gordon, that is quite a rebuild.

Not sure what stock this is?

I suspect parts from a Traditions, CVA, Ardesa, or one of the many old so called Hawken kits would be close. Someone here will probably be able to identify which based on the patch box cover. If you can identify which then a factory made gun’s parts would also likely fit. The best option would...

    Tingle rifles?

I have the 600s gun and would only sell it if someone offered way too much money for it. I’m right handed although I have daughters who shoot left handed due to left eye dominance and a left handed granddaughter.

    Pedersoli Deluxe Shotguns

Most of the original doubles one finds in our part of the country are more expensive than they are worth and often are damaged or poorly repaired.
