    Anything that tight would make it a pipe bomb. You must have “windage”, thats wiggle room. Theres a standard formula i cant recall right now but for example a 3 pounder runs 2.91 inches and the correct ball is 2.84.

    Get a musket repo. They are big and robust and you can sense the history (even tho it wasnt there, its same style). Or a 20 or 12 ga trade gun or fusil.

    Bronze (copper tin) is used in guns. Brass (copper zinc) is not. I dont have the exact figures here but im close here by memory. A full service load in a cannon, 1.5 pounds of powder to 2.5 depending on gun has a pressure of around 20,000psi. Cast iron can tolerate approx 30,000-40,000 Bronze...

    Just know up front that the barrel is the cheap part. A field carriage can run you $8000-$12000 depending on size and thats the real money part as there is a ton of handmade blacksmithing that goes into them. A navy or garrison carriage is much less, or you can build one yourself.

    More powder. Do not tightly patch anything in a cannon, pressure is your enemy. You want windage (loosness) in a cannon so it wont become a pipe bomb. Example-my 3 pounder is 2.91 bore, the ball is unpatched 2.85.

    Hoffman reproductions makes them out of indian or US parts supposedly. I asked for a build and was told he was too backed up to even let me put a deposit down and get in line. Militia House claims to make one in US with US parts.

    I had account issues too. All of a sudden they needed verification etc. tried to deal with them but no good. Tried to make new account and somehow “got caught”. Offered to send my FFL, no good enough. Finally had my gal make an account just to buy a gun here or there. Its a mess.
