    Skychief question

https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/your-skychief-load-in-pictures.121544/ Don't use the shot cup... it just made the photographing of the process easier. I hoped it would work well with this loading method but did not.

    Just One Gun

There is validity to your premise. But also as someone pointed out, it will depend on how much you shoot (and dry fire) in the chosen period of time. I know from my work with unmentionable pistols, that when my job situation changed and I did not have to shoot multiple different...

    Let's see 'em 😃

    Skychief Load Time line

I haven't had it foul the powder even left for a week or more. My guns do rack slightly muzzle down in the house, but often end up slightly muzzle up in the backseat of the truck. I've shot the skychief load off after an unsuccessful (or often unhunted) couple weeks and saw no real difference...

    Skychief question

Now we are using the Sportsman's Guide catalog,,, shotshell,,, chart as a reference for muzzleloading shot size recommendations?! 🙄😞 Didn't we learn our lesson with their, "historical load," for a .50 cal in another thread?

    Historical load?

Sometimes you've just got to consider the source and roll your eyes.

    Easter morning turkey hunting.

Nice pattern.... I remember as a grade-school kid, tracing my hand to draw a turkey...... What the heck did you trace?! 😳

    Skychief question

Squirrels take more killing than many might think. Think of some of the falls from trees and motorvehicle encounters they survive. I like #5 for most everything except small birds, like grouse (#6s), or quail (#7 1/2s). Rabbits are pretty weak too so #6 is fine. But if I could get a good dense...

    How do you prime?

This is a key question. I see this lack of perspective being offered with many of the, "oh my God, we're all gonna die! You'll blow-up the range! The sky is falling!!!!!" So called "safety" warning debates.... In comparison to how many are being used and how often,,, what is the real frequency...

    Thanks sky chief

Jug choke or constriction? @Eric Krewson has a gun he had jug choked and wasn't happy with the results. The Skychief load brought out the best from it.... hopefully he'll jump in here and give us more details.

    How do you prime?

Depends on what I'm doing. Sighting in at the range, off the bench,,, I use the little plunger thingy with 4f (the problem with these is that they seem to only work well with 4f) and only 1 pump sometimes 2 as occasionally it doesn't seem to drop as much. Otherwise, whether it's practice at the...

    Accuracy standard

Wait! You mean, your standard is smaller than "minute of deer"? Smaller than your quarry's kill zone?!!! Like,,, well,,,,, like insurance for something going wrong or having some type of pressure or stress at the time of the shot?!?!?!!!! You do know this radical concept is going to blow the...

One of my best damn friends ever

Very sorry for that loss. My mom sings, "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, so pleasedint take my sunshine away," to the family dog in the morning as her good morning greeting to him. While your sunshine was taken away,,, it shall rise again with you someday. God bless you and Sunny.

    Spontoon Tomahawk

Way to thick of a "blade" and hafted wrong for a tomahawk... Almost looks as if the smith was working toward a spontoon 'hawk, and didn't finish hammering it out. That said,,,, I still wouldn't want it to meet my skull.

    Accuracy standard

When your standard is the same size as your practical target,,,, this is known as, "good 'nuf" 🙄

A new rifle from Jud Brennan hits the Lower 48.

Very nice. Persimmon you say..... will it onky shoot sweetly after a frost? 😄 Some of that carving looks slightly familiar... historic rifle speaking.

    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

I think it is a common way of thinking amongst native peoples connected to the land. My perspective may be influenced by that. But, it also comes from a place of being fed up with litter, new and old. It comes as someone who would love to live on/own stewardship of a large chunk of woodlands...

The broken rifle and the daughter

If not natural, they can more easily be trained to be good shots. They pay better attention to instruction and have a higher attention to detail (not saying they are nit-pickers or anything 🙄 😄)
