    I had my bad experience at GB. One and done. Bought a Hawken listed as “very good” condition. Bore was not only dirty but pitted. After first 11 shots the hammer would not stay cocked. Removed the lock to find it was worn badly. I asked the seller to pay half of the cost of replacement parts...

    Finally got out before the heat. Barely light yet. Between excessive heat and heavy rain in south Texas it’s been tough. But here I go. I shot one off-hand with LRB (20) and one off the bench (25) with maxis (are we still doing that).

    pretty small. You could file down a 1/8 pin to a smaller diameter if you can find a drill bit small enough. And I do believe that smaller diameter pins are available from K&S on Ebay. How about a straight pin used by tailors?

    I bought a T/C Hawken 45 cal about a year ago. SN indicates it was made in the '70s. It shoots ok but not consistently accurate enough for our monthly matches, even off a bench rest. I looked at the entire bore with a bore camera. The chamber area and about 6" forward of the chamber have plenty...

    That’s pretty small. But you would still have a1/8” on either side of the pin.

    I have two feet of 1/16” brass rod left over from pinning my rod ends. Anyone who wants a couple inches free, send me a PM. I’ll send a piece via USPS to you.

    I glue and pin both ends. End can come off in the bore if trying to pull a dry ball. Ask me how I know that.

    Had not noticed this before....

    I have no problem since installing the thumbscrew. In fact it really aids the cleaning process for those, like me who are picky about the chamber being cleaned occasionally.
