    Wire bolt/trigger spring

The wire spring works great in my Pietta. Shot 50 rounds a couple of days ago and functioned 100% reliable and smooth. I’m very happy with the results.

    Wire bolt/trigger spring

The springs came in and were a hair short on the Pietta trigger wire. I carefully straightened out the bend at the tip and works great now. Definitely smoother and lighter trigger pull than before. The picture shows how the spring sat before having the bend straightened. Forgot to take a picture...

    Wire bolt/trigger spring

The guy on the phone at Wolff told me he has never heard of any of their springs fail in 20+ years and would give me a free pack if one broke.

    " Defarbed "

Absolutely, your gun so do as you please. Personally I don’t do it to any of mine.

    Capper for revolver

Yes they work on the Remingtons, Colt open tops even the small pocket models. Works great in my Spiller & Burr also.

    Capper for revolver

I was using the TC straight capper but recently bought Guns of the West 3D printed cappers and prefer using them. They are easy to use and work great.

    Wire bolt/trigger spring

Just discovered the bolt trigger spring in my Pietta 1851 Navy snapped. I called Wolff and ordered a couple of their wire springs. They don’t list any for Pietta but for Uberti and other clones. Has anyone used the Wolff wire spring in the Pietta 1851 or 1860? He couldn’t give me a definitive...

    Uberti 2nd model Dragoon.

Why not? It’s a Colt .380 model 1908 made in the mid 1930s. These guns were made to the mid 40s.

    Uberti 2nd model Dragoon.

No doubt. About 4 years ago I had an issue with my Colt 1908 pocket auto and called them up. I was told they don’t work on those older guns anymore. 😳

    Steel vs Brass frame differences?

I recommend a steel over brass model and a Uberti 1858 as a starter. Much easier to remove the cylinder and will shoot POA out of the box unlike the open tops. That alone will help you get your feet wet and eventually try out the open tops. Steel is stronger and will last a heck of a long time...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Tested out the mods I made in my newly acquired S&B pistol. Hour glassing the hammer spring smoothed out otherwise a very tough hammer pull. The new taller front sight puts the POI now at the correct elevation at 25 yards. Was printing a tad to the left but a couple of light taps to the right...

    Caps ... where ?

The BP selection at the Orlando location is purty weak too. They do have a decent recently acquired selection of smokeless gun powder.

    Caps ... where ?

Bass Pro carries them off and on. Go online and file a restocking notice and they will notify once they are back in stock. They sell the Remington caps for $13 a tin and if you have a Bass Pro nearby, you can have the order sent to the store to avoid the hazmat fee.

    new here from South Florida

Hola and welcome. Grew up in Miami 1960s thru late 90s. Used both Trail Glades and Markham when we moved to Davie. Another place to go back then was the end of Bird Rd. about 132 Ave. which was a dirt road in the 70s and the arches by the Trail and 160 Ave. Both places have been long gone for a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

So finally found a Spiller & Burr, unfired from 1998 from board member parrot head, thanks! The pistol is in mint condition but the hammer pull was quite heavy. Read about hour glassing the spring so broke out the old Sears grinder and gave it a slight taper making sure the metal staid cool. The...
