More from my late dad's safe...

Sorry for your loss. My dad wasn’t into guns but my brother was. He passed away several decades back then my dad went. Miss them both every day that goes by.

Just bought a Pietta 1851 Navy in .36, what do I need to know?

Unfortunately I don’t have the package it came in and don’t remember . I sized the post with my calipers and matched the size. No threading, but a tight friction fit.

Just bought a Pietta 1851 Navy in .36, what do I need to know?

Extremely very easy fix. Pulled out the original sight post and replaced it with K&S brass rod from Hobby Lobby. Now it’s a little under 1/4” and prints pretty much POA.

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

Made my own wrench from a 5mm deep socket and a Dremel cutting wheel to modify it. Use some anti seize on the threads and give it a snug tug and das it.

    Rogers & Spencer review

This pistol is simply outstanding! Shot 100 rounds of .454 ball and some conical paper cartridges. Absolutely 0 cap or paper jams and NO cylinder binding even after firing 100 35 grain Schuetzen BP paper cartridges!! I only lubed the cylinder pin once with Pam cooking spray and used no lube on...

Just bought a Pietta 1851 Navy in .36, what do I need to know?

For me, CCI number 11s fall off on all my factory nipples while Remington 10s fit like a glove over them. Then my pistols with Slixshots use both 10 and 11 size caps perfectly. Regarding these guns shooting high, I replaced the front sights with taller ones. I don’t want to be guessing where...

Got #11 CCI caps in Walmart today

Even more frustrating when you ask the young kid stocking the shelves if they carry CCI caps and he asks what color and size!😳

Got #11 CCI caps in Walmart today

If Walmart sells them that low a price then the other stores selling the same thing for 2-3 times more sure sounds like greed. There’s a shop I know of that was selling the tins at $28 each as of a few months back, almost 5 times more than Walmart.🤬

    What’s up with the holes

I called CCI and was told the holes are there to let moisture escape. He said the unvented tins tend to hold moisture. Storing them in a dry cool place is the key to a long shelf life. I also asked about cap production and was told they are making large runs of 10, 11 and magnum caps and are...

    getting brass black

I bought this S&B here from another member about a year or so ago and it looked to be unfired. The brass had a SUPER bright bling but that bright finish has diminished after several firings and wiping with dirty patches with BP residue/junk. It gets darker with each use.

    What’s up with the holes

Just checked a RWS plastic tin and they have one hole.

    What’s up with the holes

Just noticed these holes on the backside of the CCI tins I just got from Academy. Aren’t these tins supposed to be airtight?

    1861 Navy paper cartridges

I also have Dustin’s cartridge maker in .36 and .44. I use New Wave curling papers and super glue to secure the ball. I made my own modification from a tapered dowel for my Dragoon loads. Pictured are .36 loads for my S&B.
