    Paper nitrating question

That is exactly why I let the gun cool off for several minutes as a safety measure just in case.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Forgot to post yesterday. Loaded up 50 paper .44 rounds but did it differently. Instead of punching out circles and using a glue stick to glue the ball and circle, I experimented using thin CA glue. The glue stick was used to make the envelopes from curling paper then folded over the bottoms...

    Paper nitrating question

I used those but the curling papers leave less unburned paper and nitrated coffee filters even less.

    Paper nitrating question

I also have small unburned pieces of un nitrated curling paper left over but not enough to interfere with the operation. The nitrated coffee filters burn 99% leaving just ashes.

    Paper nitrating question

I use them not nitrated and they work great. I like using them on .36 loads and nitrated coffee filter paper for the .44 loads specially Dragoon cartridges.

    Paper nitrating question

G dog I have tried curling and cig paper and both work but don’t completely burn off. Nitrated coffee filter paper works better for me burning off completely leaving no unburned paper after firing. Bigfoot and felonious Thanks for your responses.

    Paper nitrating question

A friend asked if the Spectricide stump remover is safe to handle without gloves when dry on the paper. I wear gloves when dipping the coffee filters in the solution and when completely dry and during cutting/gluing the paper for the envelopes.

    New from Miami.

Hola. 👋 I grew up in Miami back in the 60s and 70s. Miss going to the long gone Tamiami Gun Shop on the Trail and 29 Ave.

    Napolean movie reviews?

Yes I agree, too much Josephine personal stuff but actually enjoyed watching the movie. The battle scenes and special effects were outstanding, some critics sited very short battle scenes. I read the reviews after watching the movie and most were pretty negative claiming historical Inaccuracy...

    Where to find #11 caps?

Don’t doubt it and sounds like something the libs want. I just bought small pistol primers from Academy for $8 per 100, in stock. Graf had no hazmat on the large pistol primers too. They pop up now and then.

    Where to find #11 caps?

Continue to check with Academy and Cabellas/Basspro. When they re stock them they either have them on line that can be sent to the store near you saving the shipping and hazmat fees or they have them at the store. One needs to be proactive to get them. Some Walmarts carry them too.

    filler or no filler

While on the grease subject, I use beeswax/coconut oil firm mix in every other chamber instead of all six. Keeps the fowling down and no messy runny greasy goo on my guns. Haven’t used filler either which adds another step in the loading process. Pam cooking spray on the arbor/cylinder pin...

    To the older guys…

Same here. A couple of days back I had a younger dude next to me blow thru several hundred rounds of 9 thru his Mattel framed semi auto while I shot 50 paper cartridges in my 1851 pistol. Thank God for the clear plastic partition that kept off the brass rain from hitting me lol. He did inquire...

    To the older guys…

Great post. I will enjoy mine a while longer then on to the gunshop on consignment for somebody else to enjoy. The funds will pay bills and other stuff. Every day of life is a gift from God, enjoy it and thank him, I do every morning when I awake.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Not really if you have a big grinder. Just keep some water near by to dunk the spring to keep it from overheating. Taking off and putting the spring on is a bi atch. The front sight needs to be about 1/4” high to make it hit POA at closer range of 15-25 yards. I will also eventually strip the...

Cool. Does yours have a heavy hammer pull? The hour glassing helped lighten the pull.

If you think that’s bad, a gunshop in my area wants $28 a tin!😳

    Haul from cabela's

I was surprised to find Hornady brass for my unmentionable WWII rifle at Cabelas/Bass Pro with free shipping and cheaper than even Midway USA. The one here in Orlando has a decent selection of reloading components and powders along with muzzleloading stuff.

    Black powder or Pyrodex

The first time I shot a BP pistol was with Pyrodex because it was the only thing available at the time. It works the same as BP so use it but follow the recommended loads per the manufacturer. Clean up is the same as regular BP. I use plain water mixed with Ballistol (moose milk) and then lube...
