Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

100% agree! Sounds like the builder had a HISSY FIT when you 'challenged' them ... and I sure hope they READ this, :ghostly: LOL!

    Copy of an original blunderbuss

Our assessment? I say GO FOR IT! The proofs look great and everything else appears correct by my eye. In fact I have one just like it less with a 14" barrel, also brass, of same cannon muzzle shape, but with a folding bayonet on top of the barrel ... et no proof marks (???) on the barrel.

    Stavlo Jezail

I have one just like your's! The animal hide glue is giving way ... and if I pick it up or otherwise handle it ... Mother of Pearl pieces go all over the floor! So she hangs on a wall ... Can you imagine what would happen if I actually live fired it :ghostly: , LOL??!!??

    1/4 scale Napoleon

Wow … just saw this from a comment by @Rich44 and zowie, that’s some skill & dedication to make some of those fine small parts from scratch, like even that of the water bucket! Huzzah!

    Swivel gun stand and implements

That’s what I do w/ my golf ball sized swivel gonne - use a large wooden block - but I glued 80-grit sand paper to the bottom & it barely moves. Nice work BTW on your friend’s set of tools! As seen below, mine is a breech loader model & so far I’ve found no need for a worm.

Flintlock pistol rested across arm safe ?

Ditto, that's correct, as those large wheellock pistols were shot with the upper forend supported on the middle of the foream or back of the wrist, of the off-shooting arm. But NOTE, those wheelies were up to 2X as long as the typical flintlock pistol, so there actually is quite a bit of space...

Hey @Teleoceras, it’s GREAT to have you back on board! Your collection, posts & YouTube videos inspired me to focus on the early arms!

    Patch Lube Latest and Greatest

Only 10 shots! C’mon man! Hoppe’s Black Powder Cleaner & Patch Lube FWIW I shoot in the top 10 shooters at the NE Flintlock Championship every year for the past few years, posting a top score 100-yard target every year and I’ll shoot anywhere from 80 to 120 shots in a day with it and NEVER...

    What is that guy doing?

Well, I disagree … I had 3, just sold 1, so am now down to 2, a 75 & 62-cal TRS … but the recoil in that position shown is easily manageable IMHO. I can even hold one over my shoulder or under my armpit with just one hand whilst someone else lights it or when I use a fuse (demonstrations)...

Neat “Moroccan Lock” action - Snaphaunce?

NICE! Love it! Horizontal sear through lockplate, **** ‘stop’ external to the lockplate, round ‘knob’ projection off the pan, large frizzen with ~90-degree elbow off an arm … definite Snaphaunce. Wonder if the **** moving forward pushes open a ‘closed’ pan cover???

    Swivel Gonne fun ... FORE!

FYI, I added this post to 'PHOTOS' and not to the 'CANNON' Forum as "by law" of the State in which I reside - it is not a cannon, in that cannons are specifically muzzleloaders that need special permits and licenses issued by the State Fire Marshall for ownership and use. This is due to the...

    Numrich Arms Swivel Barrel Rifle

They were made by the former Armi San Marcos (ASM), who made them for Beretta and more importantly … made them to Beretta’s quality standards. However, when the Beretta contract ended, ASM still had parts and the tooling and setup to make/sell or distribute them under a few other MZL names...

    Loading technique for hunting

That works too, just be aware that it will lose its lubricity in weeks to a month or so - all depends on storage conditions - unlike the TOW mink oil that will not lose it (at least up to 2-months from our actual use/testing, as per a post further up).

    Loading technique for hunting

No need for anything between the powder and TOW mink oiled patch, it won't contaminate the powder. FWIW one friend leaves his unfired MZL from either the late Nov VT or early New Year PA deer season loaded until the MZL Biathlon held up in VT in mid-February. Every year, he takes it out to the...

Swede Snaplock, oh my what a cool lock ... and such a BIG girl!

Heresy I say, heresy … Yeah, my big English matchlock @ 14-pounds is an ideal candidate for such a fork, but not a 10# musket … run w/ de big dogs or stay on de porch, LOL!
