    Paper catridge lube

A "Youtube" video shows making wonder wads with beeswax & lamb tallow mixture. I thought the ratio would be too greasy. I've heard of the beeswax & olive oil mixture, but no ratio's were ever given for summer shooting. Thank you both for the info! :hatsoff:

    Paper catridge lube

I made a dozen paper cartridges for my bess, using .003 inch thick brown paper rolled around a .715 diameter dowel. Any recommendations for a beeswax mixture lube? Dry, the paper cartridge just fits the bore. I don't want to shoot dry paper, but I don't want a greasy mess either, so I'm...

Which Co. to buy kit from

It is a toss-up between TRS' 1756 Lt Dragoon or NSWs' 1757 Officer Musket. I am having a custom 34inch, .58cal barrel made with the same profile as the '1756' Lt Dragoon musket barrel. After I receive the barrel, my options are: A) Order a stock without the barrel inletted and all of the...

Which Co. to buy kit from

Once again, I turn to your voices of experience for help. :hatsoff: I am looking at purchasing a particular gun kit to build. These two companies North Star West and The Rifle Shoppe, sell a similar style of rifle. For all purposes, lets say the cost is the same. What I want to know is -...

    Buying BP in Cincinnati-Dayton area?

I live in NE OH and last year, while my wife and I were in Sugarcreek OH, I stopped in Millers Gun Supply Ltd. Their GOEX BP was $4.00/Lb cheaper than Log Cabin. It would be about a 3hr drive, but the areas is pretty, and the Amish furniture and food shopping would be worth the drive.

Yep! That's what I said (imagine what my wife of 33yrs has had to put up with) :surrender: I am looking for a coat pattern of that period - be it Ranger, English military, etc. There are several patterns available, what I am looking for the the "best" pattern to purchase that would fulfill...

F & I War Coat (Ranger Coat) Pattern

I want to create a F & I era (Ranger-type) coat (outfit) to go target shooting and hunting with. I have no plans for reenacting, so authenticity is not required, but want my clothing to be "period correct." With this, what pattern(s) from what company would best be recommended? In addition...

    .40 caliber, then and now

Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) said it best in the movie Magnum Force, "Man's got to know his limitations." This holds true for any aspect, especially when using my .40cal for hunting. I know my accuracy/confidence at 25 and limitations at 50 yds. Because I have no "factuals" on the...

    A new .32, or a 2nd .58?

I am in contact with two builders. One is building a .32 flinter in a So. Mountian style for squirreling and I hope crow. The other is building a .58 English Sporting Rifle with some changes that I want for deer (in my case trees  ) :headslap: Next year I'll probably have my final...

    A new .32, or a 2nd .58?

After I attend the CLA show, I'll have a better idea of what I want the .32 to look like. Recently on Track's for-sale menue, I saw a beautiful .58 Jeager. My plan is to get both built and make MY Christmas Merry!

.58 cal barrel with 1-in-56 twist

Sometime during this past week, I found a store that was selling a 1" octagon X 42 (44?) inch long X .58 cal with a 1 in 56in twist, round-bottom rifling barrel. Unfortunately though, I cannot find my reference notes on who the manufacturer was. If you know who it is please...

    A new .32, or a 2nd .58?

I figured I was kinda leanin' into a left hook with this post...but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do! :headslap: I do appreciate everyone's input. :hatsoff: I was specing-out a 42" X 13/16" barrel for the .32. I figured it would be more like sniping rather than stalking, therfore...

    A new .32, or a 2nd .58?

First, I LOVE my .40 flintlocks and am going to have a third .40 flinter built before end-of-year 2012. So I contemplate my next flinter...should I get a .32 or .58 flintlock? I have a .58 fusil de chasse and am waiting for the CLA show in KY to look .58 'Jaeger's.' A short-barrelled rifle...
