    Handgun reloader meets leadball

Mark the ramrod at the end of the muzzle when you load whatever load you are using. If the ring marked on the ramrod is exposed, then the ball is not seated. Ball/patch combo is one of those things that you will need to explore. Say a .50 cal. 490" and .020" patch or a .495" ball and a .015"...

    SOLD Thompson Center Cherokee 32

Thank goodness I am cheap, or I would have another gun that I don't really need.

Got #11 CCI caps in Walmart today

To the hoarders that clean out supplies,, leaving the rest of us empty handed. Well, you can guess my thoughts.

    TC FLINTLOCK

I prefer the Lyman frizzens but they require a bit of modification. They are a bit thicker in the shoulder where the screw goes through them.

Wanted - parts Need someone to reassemble a percussion lock for me.

I thought that he was looking for someone to do the work but some of us offered suggestions to help him do it himself.

    Coil spring vs leaf spring?

T/C and Lyman produce their locks with coil springs while it seems that everyone else goes with leaf spings. What are the advantages of each?

Second on the vice-grips of the correct size. I would also suggest that you place everything inside of a plastic grocery bag. That way is anything flies away it won't go far. Easier to find in the bag than on the floor.

    Weight

Weight do vary slightly. The wood of the stock can vary in density and weight. You won't know the difference of less than a pound.

    Weight

It's the balance, more so than the weight.

    You call that a rifle.

I am a fan of bigger calibers for hunting, but I am afraid of the recoil on this one.

    Time machine Hawken

I am one of those guys that responds to these crazy ads and tries to "help" them correct their knowledge. Usually, they don't respond.

    I love the classifieds

Even though there is currently nothing that interest me, I see a lot of neat guns that I would otherwise never get to see. Great source of info for learning.

Can you guys school me on grades of Hawkens? Quality, value, etc.

A decent condition T/C Hawken or Renegade will get you there with money left over for powder and accessories. The Hawken has more drop in the stock but has the crescent butt plate.

    How Indian flintlocks are made

Reminds me of photos of the old days at Springfield. Early 1903 rifles suffered from poor heat treating because they went by the color of the metal but had trouble being consistent due to poor lighting. Think it was any better when they made early flintlocks?

    Well I will tell ya...

I hate going to the club range and dealing with the Nija-Warrior Wanna-Be, black rifle shooters. I just shoot from the down-wind benches. I often get funny looks when I break out my 1880 TD carbine or my Sharps conversion carbine in 50-70. I actually had a guy tell me I couldn't shoot the...

    Woodsrunner Recoil?

As a general rule, I find that shotgun style butt plates as lighter felt recoil. Same goes for drop in the stock. I gave up on T/C Renegades as the limited stock drop put my cheek bone tight against the comb and felt recoil was more pronounced. Currently shooting a T/C Hawken but looking for...
