    Should I get a .40?

I think if its something you really want, go for it.

SQUARE CUT OR ROUND BOTTOM RIFLING?

If nothing else I think the round bottom rifling looks better.

    1860 Army replicas

I've been happy with my Pietta 1860 Army too.

    Aging a Pietta 1860

Drag it down a dirt road behind a bike for a mile or two, that's the ticket.

    Question regarding inletting

If it was me I would pass on it. For that kind of money you can do a lot better.

    Made the Kibler Leap

Those rifles look good in walnut also.

Don't know how y'all do it....

I think everyone has problems with flinching at one time or another. I love shooting my 44 mags, but the real heavy loads give me a little trouble now and because of that I occasionally flinch.

    Naming your guns?

The only name I give my guns is a POS if they don't shoot good.

    Kibler SMR length issue

My SMR in 40 cal weights 7 pounds even. It has perfect balance and to shorten the barrel would ruin that.

    Another Recreation

I would have a hard time selling that one too.

    Fiddleback walnut look

I like that look and you did a great job, but I always wonder how well it will hold up. Does the fiddleback come off or wear out with handling over time?

    Jim Kibler : Open House

I think what ever Kibler builds will sell well just because the quality is as good as it gets.

    Stain to “yellow” hickory ramrod

You could try paint. Pick a color you like, paint the rod, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it off and it should color the wood.

Getting ready to take the plunge…

Very common, no need to worry.

Has anybody actually used duracoat on a barrel?

I'm not a fan. It cost too much and takes too long to dry. Plus it isn't very tough compared to other finishes.

Thoughts on Patch Boxes - or lack thereof - on the Kentucky Rifle in its Golden Age (and Colonial Age)

^so how many deer skins for one of your modestly carved long rifles?
