    Smoothbore grouse

Thanks for everyone's replies, we live in the Alaska bush and thanks to Starlink we now have access to the intranet. I certainly enjoy this forum! Crisco kid I took no offence, we hunt to put food on the table not for sport. My kids have grown up hunting, fishing, trapping and I'm glad they took...

Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.

I grew up not far from Sturmkatz and back in those days quite a few of the old timers only had one gun, a single barrel shotgun. They could cut the wad for deer or use shot for small game and they were cheap enough that they could afford them. I sure don't remember anyone toting any high dollar...

    Primitive Rendezvous interior Alaska

Yep I went on Friday and Saturday, it was smoking hot out! Kids had fun, everyone was super friendly, and made some good contacts. They really really need to promote this better as they are excluding people who would be otherwise interested.

    The Revenant.

Since I had read " Lord Grizzly " I was excited to see it, after watching how they hollywooded it I was thoroughly disgusted. leonardo dicraprio is also a communist Dbag, they could of at least had someone who reeks of toxic masculinity play Hugh Glass instead of a pantywaist!

    Success

Moose would be fun, he needs to do some shooting at extended ranges this summer and he also needs to pattern it with shot. The rabbits are finally coming back and we've been seeing a lot more sharp tails around here where it was mostly just spruce hens with the occasional ruffed grouse.

Building short N.W. Trade Gun ...

I think it's pretty awesome that you can take some pieces parts and add it to a crappy piece of wood and make a decent looking gun that will be a blast to shoot! I hope someday to have a Rob Miller trade gun, been saving my pennies ;0)

Building short N.W. Trade Gun ...

I wouldn't call it ugly, it just gives it character. You certainly won't think twice about dragging her through the brush chasing rabbits.

    John Pruitt first round

About 30 yds, thats the distance from our blind to the bait barrel. After spring bear we'll start moving the target farther out as well as pattern it with shot. After shooting his smoothbore for the first time he said it was the most fun he's ever had shooting, I think he's hooked ;0)

Limits of Hard Cast Roundball when hunting

" I aim to break the shoulders as that puts a deer down almost instantly. I have taken 8 deer in the last 4 years using this shot and have never had to blood trail a wounded deer more than 10 feet. Most have dropped in their tracks. " For hunting big bears with hardcast you want to break the...

    John Pruitt first round

Not sure why he did it that way, it's different but works. He offered to build it for my son for next to nothing so he could get started shooting a smoothbore flintlock. We'll be heading out tomorrow to look for that black animal....................

    John Pruitt first round

First shot was to the right but the rest were centered so I'd say he's ready to roll. Using 80 grs. 2f, over powder card, pre lubed wad, .010 patch, .600 ball.
