    Ox yoke wonder seals

I like them but they are like ten cents each! Is anybody home making something similar? Something solid but pliable.

    making a shooting stick

Any ideas for us squirrel hunters? Seems like there's never a prop tree where I need one. It would probably have to be telescoping to be tall enough.

    Am I color blind?

I've got it too but it's strange, when someone points to the blood, and it's close enough, I can see it, and it is red. I just can't pick it out for myself. I remember being on a trail before I knew, and someone seeing blood out twenty feet in front of us, and I thought they were super tracker...

    .32 out of a .40

I went back to the beginning to read what the "computer warriors" said and couldn't find one negative comment. The "why would you do that" was a legit question I think, and you answered it. :)

Balls backing out of the chambers

I could push the ball in and it would come right back out. I considered pushing it in and cocking it at the same time but that seemed a little sketchy. I discovered the other two balls protruding when I got home and was glad I didn't fire it. I pulled the wads from those three chambers...

Balls backing out of the chambers

Hunting in this below freezing cold this past weekend I tried to shoot the 1860 and it wouldn’t ****. Three of the five balls were sticking out of their chambers. At home later I removed the cylinder, smacked it on a piece of wood and three balls fell out. I loaded it in a warm house, 28grs...

    Just an opinion

I've got an unfired 58 made in 1985. If they're that bad I might just leave it that way. I have no complaints about the 1860 I shoot and hunt with.

    What size ball?

So the only limiting factor is ease of loading? So if I can stuff it in the chamber it'll go down the barrel?

    What size ball?

I recently acquired an older ASM 1860 .44. When loading a .454 ball with one of those cheap bench loaders it was only shaving off a half moon of lead, so I bought a box of .457's without thinking too much about it. So I measured the chambers as best as I could with a micrometer and they are...

A Man Has to Know His Limitations!

This is my first year with a flintlock and I hope it gets better. I rarely hit anything offhanded, even easy shots. I guess my brain is still on centerfire time. When the smoke clears the squirrel is still there, laughing at me! Sometimes they stick around for the reload until I'm almost done...

    Future Musings.

I carry a small pair of binoculars, an orange hat so I don't get shot and a colt 1860, just because.

    Revolver photos

And what a fireball!!! Looks like a chain fire waiting to happen. How many grs of powder were you using in the 5"?

Pete, you see the flames coming out of the nipple and deflected forward by the hammer? Has someone drilled the nipples out?

    Flintlock (Kibler) sights

Yes, please do. :( But until then, put white paint on the front sight and darken the rear with a black magic marker.
