    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

I relate this question to modern revolvers. A friend hunted with a .357 and lost every deer he hit. No penetration and one hole left zero blood trails too. Using a C&B 36 is like hunting with a nine or ..38 S&W. I used my .44 mag and never lost a deer. I have also taken many deer with my Ruger...

    Kids under 12 hunting.

When we acted up in school, we got paddled and when we got home we got it worse. Kids learned that doing wrong had results that were not good. My dad did not shoot or hunt but neighbors did so I got invited when very young, borrowed shotguns and learned to hunt rabbits and tree rsts. I earned...

    You call that a rifle.

Thicker patch and even thicker shoulder!

    Weight sorting cast lead balls.

OK, I have found a few like that over the years. I started making my own molds about 5 years ago. I found that after cutting I bring the mold up to temp and drop the cherry back in and cut more by hand, that gives me a round bullet. If a mold is cut off center, you will have the bullet stick in...

Where to get .69 Cal round ball?

Pick out all the zinc WW's and melt at 600 degrees, DO NOT FLUX. Skim all off the sutface that floats. After the surface is clean, then you flux.

    Weight sorting cast lead balls.

Cast properly and there will be zero rejects and weight varience will be nil. If a mold casts out of round it is way too hot. Slow the rate a little. A mold does not expand evenly like a hole in a block, it is two pieces.

    Shooting to the left

Something is not right. .060" sounds too much. I guess 43" between sights and for 2" at 100 the front sight needs moved only .023". Hardly enough to notice. Still, some great shooting there.

    A recent vivid lucent daydream...

I built by buying parts and cutting planks to make stocks but now I am near 87 so a kit would be a next build if I ever do. I can't shoot all I have now!

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I shot my Ruger OA today at 25 yards to see how the .45 bullet does. Used Swiss 3F tad over 31 gr. First shot from clean bore went left but I put 5 in 1-1/8", just hits high from RB. Tryed Pyrodex P and did not like it at all. Might be too old. I had 2 that the cap fired but not the pyrodex and...

    Kibler Gap Question

You waant where the gap is to be seated good or all the recoil will be at the rear of the tang. If you do not want to move it back, bed it there.

    CURIOUS ABOUT CONICALS

1 in 48 twist will work with both RB and bullets but for looong bullets you want a faster twist and a slower twist will allow you to shoot a RB faster. Back when I shot a .36 flinter for tree rats I would buy a 25# bag of buckshot I think it was OO and back then a bag was $5. Don't ask how old I am!

    Casting for the first time

Now fellas, a drop of water on top of lead will not explode lead, it has to go under the surface. I hate bottom pour pots, use a laddle. Pace casting to control mold temps. Wait for the sprue to harden before cutting. I cut sprues into an old coffee can, not the pot. Best pot is the Lee 20#...

    Bore brushing.

I agree, I never get leading because of the lube. Now once I tried WW lead in my BPCR and got severe leading but never with pure lead. I have never had lead in a muzzle loader with Maxi Balls.

To Bounce or not to Bounce

I never bounce but the same pressure must be applied so I made this tool. It has a strong spring inside, I put it on the ramrod and compress the spring fully so the ball is seated well.

I am an *****. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

I can't tell if part of the liner is still in there, sure looks like it and drilled. There is never any reason to remove them things unless the hole is shot out. Use the right ball puller. The things they sell will expand a ball so much you will never remove it. Pre drilling a ball works better...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I lapped the bullet mold for my OA for a tighter fit. Then worked a powder charge to fit. Ready to test but it is so hot the lead will melt before I can shoot!
