    Ruger Old Army Upgrade

I did actually make a mold for a bullet that also works in my 1911's. I just have not worked with it much in the Ruger. It is just too hot to go down to my range. .

    Ruger Old Army Upgrade

what most do not understand is the Ruger uses a .45 Colt barrel and the twist of 1 in 16 is way too fast for a RB. Shoot them with 20 gr and a filler and they do well. But for deer I use 41 gr of Swiss FFFG for 1102 FPS. ONLY close range shots because at 50 it sucks. However it will kill deer...

Hopkins & Allen Underhammer Boot Pistol

I don't knw if you can drill the pin. Being a pivot it might be super hard.

    Ignition

Good frizzens today are made of tool steel and hardened all the way through. Correct me if I am wrong.

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

Worst for noise I ever shot on my own range was a friends 50 BMG, The blast peeled my ear muffs off. I think it took a few trees down next to the bench.

Traditions Shedhorn failing to set off #11 caps

I will use nothing but Rem or CCI caps. The RWS caps had me picking pieces of caps out of my nose and chin. Good thing for safety glasses. RWS and Italian caps really make you bleed. I now only use them to clear the nipples and hold the gun upside down.

Problem getting spark thru to powder... Help!

The point is there will be a time when you need to take the screw out. I do not remove mine when doing normal cleaning, I just remove the nipple. But why let it corrode in? I would never put spark plugs in an engine without anti seize either, being a mechanic for my early years, I have seen the...

    A question about pyrodex

I use Pyrodex in one rifle and have used it from the day I finished the gun. It works and is no harder to clean then BP.

Problem getting spark thru to powder... Help!

Clean out screws need anti seize on them before even shooting it first. I do not know why guys ignore the stuff. Nipples sure need it.

    Average Group

I have shot many, many 3 shot groups from the bench with all shots touching. When young I could hit steel chickens off hand at 200 meters regularly. Then I got old and hurt my left shoulder. Can't hold the rifles up anymore.

    Cleaning Question

With a good lube I have gone over 200 shots without wiping. No accuracy loss. The right lube will soften fouling when shot and also when loading, pushing it down to the powder to be shot out. That leaves the wonder lubes in a trash can, also SPG. The best store bought lube was Young Country...

    India Barrel Failure

200 grs of BP will not burn in a pistol barrel. Maybe 50 at best but even with 50, 150 gr of weight is added to the bullet and that is what raises the pressure. Chances are the barrel was hand made, sitting by a charcoal fire with a pile of scrap metal.

Any suggestions? Or should I leave this dog under the porch?

You got it backwards my friend. A higher rear sight will raise impact so I asume you meant front sight.

    Only one gun allowed!

A fine piece but it is backwards!

    Knife Sheath

Western knives were sold all over from display cases and were super good steel. That knife deserves a nice sheath.

    Sweat

We had a dog in the garage so I installed a window unit. The poor mutt died of old age but I still put the ac in. Tools cost too much. You should see the water outside.

    BLOWN OUT PATCH'S

To fit a patch---Take a large hunk and lube a spot. short start it and use the cloth to pull the ball out. Study the ball for cloth weave marks. The lead should show weave marks at the grooves also, those are the highest spots on the ball. If none there you have gas leakage and need a thicker...

    New Arkansas Reg: “Alternative weapons”

We have a real problem before deer season in WV. Farmers get unlimited tags and have a bunch of jerks shoot off the deer. Bad part is they also leave the farms and enter private properties. Some years we have trouble finding any deer. I complained to deaf ears as the state does not want to pay...

Any suggestions? Or should I leave this dog under the porch?

For hidden fixes from inside I would take a length of brazing rod, chuck in a drill and run it through a die to thread it. Drill a hidden hole past the crack, fill with epoxy and thread the rod in with a drill. After hardening I cut the rod flush. But like said, fix the problem first.

    What is your procedure……

I use a hunk of deer antler to Knap but have also found a large old fashioned iron nail will also grab the rock, it must be iron.
