A 'taboo' is a social group's ban, prohibition, or avoidance of something based on the group's sense that it is excessively repulsive, offensive, sacred, or allowed only for certain persons. I can see where this forum prefers to stay on task and prohibit discussions of certain styles of...

    Denatured Alcohol

Denatured Ethanol (alcohol) has had additives mixed with it to make it poisonous and unpalatable for consumption. Denatured alcohol is used as a solvent and as fuel for alcohol burners and camping stoves. Because of the diversity of industrial uses for denatured alcohol, hundreds of additives...

Powder grain size effects on velocity

Where people can run into trouble is when the pressure develops too fast in too short of a time-frame. It takes time to bump up a projectile and get it moving from it's at-rest position. If the charge is releasing energy faster in that time frame because the charge is being fully consumed in...

    FF FFF powder

a grain of FF will take slightly longer to fully combust than a grain of FFF. Using a grain size consistent with the amount of time a projectile is still in the barrel will generally give the best results - if the powder is still burning when the projectile is no longer in the barrel, then the...

    Type F and Wax

ATF has detergents in it to dissolve the varnish that accumulates inside an automatic transmission's valve body. These detergents can be powerful enough to dissolve the adhesives used to attach the clutch friction materials to the clutch plates - one of the reasons why replacing transmission...

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

I would not recommend this unless planning to shoot soon. The lube will almost certainly leech into the powder over time and likely effect reliability. Also if using a conical as the OP states, there really should be no need for a felt wad over the powder.

HELP! Prussian Blue in wife's carpet!`

It would almost be worth having the ability for an OP to designate a question-based thread "SOLVED" similar to what can be done with sales / trades threads. Many people read the original post and go straight for a reply without reading further into the thread. The more posts / longer the...

    Where to find conical bullets

Which one? I have not tried .44 Kerr, but those almost look like a round ball to begin with. Brent indicates that he likes them a lot. I cast the .44 Johnston & Dow and the .36 Colt Cartridge Works. The J&D come out of the mold with a sharp tip and flatten a lot when loaded. The rammer on my...
