    I have used 70 grains of FFFg under a .490 patched round ball for years. Plenty of power for deer. You don't need mega-charges, and they are rarely as accurate. Each gun is a law unto itself, but 65-80 grains should be the ballpark for a good accurate hunting load. ADK Bigfoot
