Was Dutch right about wiping between shots?

I quit wiping between shots years ago and rarely get a misfire since. I spit patch for target shooting and use Mink oil for hunting. When you load without wiping, the powder charge keeps the fouling out of the touch hole when you ram the ball home. The fouling is then shot out with the ball...

    SOLD Rifleman's Knife

For your consideration, Rifleman's knife. This piece was inspired by the Belduque, a large Spanish knife from around the 17th century, believed by some to have been the ancestor of the Bowie knife. The blade is 12'' long, forged from a Model A leaf spring. the overall length 17 inches. The...

Do you display your flintlock or other guns in your home

I take great pleasure in looking at my rifles so I take the chance. I display them on the wall. I live deep in the backwoods and have a few land sharks (man eating dogs) on constant guard duty, I don't worry about it.

    Can You Help?

I hunt with a flintlock, I personally don't give a flying cr*ap what anyone else hunts with. I'm more concerned about the quality of the whiskey that you brought than the gun you brought into camp.

    Grandpa stories

I love Grandpa stories, here's mine. Back in those days men would gather up at...

FOR SALE High carbon belt knife

The knife is not up for discussion, it is up for sale. If you don't like it, don't buy it, which you never had any intentions of anyway. Criticism in a for sale ad shows no class and is in violation of forum's rules

    Vent hole plug?

This works, I put a little beeswax on the end of the rolled up leather. way better than trying to dig broken toothpicks out of a touch hole

    NRA "Voting"

The New York attorney general's goal was to destroy the NRA. She was stupid to go after the grifter Wayne, she should have just left him alone, he was doing an excellent job at destroying the NRA all by himself. I baled when I found out I was financing Wayne LaPierre wardrobe, limousines and...

Interesting long knife at auction. Relic or recreation?

I'd say it's a rehandled butcher knife, late 19th century. Sheath appears to be an Argentine gaucho style and was not made for that knife. Looks like a nice old piece, I'd add it to my collection if the price was right

    Yakut knife

Bill, it is to make the blade easier to sharpen. The blade is held flat to the stone, with the fuller side down. This reduces the surface area of the blade thus allowing for less metal to be removed. This blade design is genius, Don't know if it is true but some believe that this knife was...

    Yakut knife

I have had the opportunity to use this knife through two hunting seasons, several pigs and five white tails. It's now my go to knife, easily sharpened and holds a good edge. I have made three more for hunting buddies and have had nothing but good feedback from them. Thanks for all the kind...

    SOLD Civil war dagger

Excellent work Loja Man but I disagree about useless. I would consider a dagger the ultimate self defense weapon short of a handgun. You did a nice job recreating this piece.
