    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

TobJohn...your guess is as good as mine and more than likely much better. It takes but little communication to ease a dilemma. Thank you.

Rick an open mind is better than the opposite. What is unknown is best left to a positive future for the Old Guard family.

    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

Pathfinder I have no clue. Perhaps they will use my suggestions and the barrels/sights and underlugs that I sent them to their advantage. I paid the original cost of the barrels and again the same cost for shipping and absurd Poland tax and duties. To have them returned was out of the...

    To my Pre-Flintlock Friends >>>

Early October ‘23 I made a long-term business arrangement with Old Guard Manufacturing in Poland. We exchanged dozens of emails finalizing a joint manufacture of a Museum quality 1600’s wheelock carbine based on a Dutch/German museum model to be distributed exclusively in the USA. The...

NRA may be one of the most corrupt organ., now beginning to correct itself in a good way >>>

Ok Sam, you asked for it! On post #3 I left out the word "With" after the word "Play".....all in the realm of poking the piglet!

    Latest Acquisition

Congradulations! Wheelocks of any vintage/source are beautiful in my eyes! Please make sure barrel does not have an old load in it. You said you put pyrite in the dog and it sparked well...whew, hope you aimed it in a neutral direction! Is the touch hole clear? Does it have a removable...

I do believe we are like "Shark Tank" on T.V.! Instead of letting emmagee enjoy his new wheelock carbine in quiet peace all alone as Rick implied...we seem to be milling or circling around waiting to butt heads at the bid opening of his estate!!! I'm sure emmagee has his beauty in his lap...

I congratulate you! You own what I consider the most evolutionary firearm in history as well as esthetically beautiful! First and foremost, the wheelock was the first firearm in history capable of being loaded and primed, ready to fire at the discretion of the shooter simply by pulling the...

Several other reminders that may jar your memory Sam: Principles Office Belt/razor strop Dad! Me too: 4th grade, jumped out of the classroom window, ran across 2 major traffic streets and hid in my tree house with 2 buddies. p.s.: Neighbors 1/4 mile away could hear my mom screaming my...

Thank you! That wheelock, if the description was correct, was deemed a great investment for the new owner and I am sure will be a prize for his/her family for generations. Perhaps the owner will join our pre-flintlock community and share their shooting and/or ownership experiences. Obvious...

    18th Century Artisans Show 2024

Same in central Texas......here it used to be if it doesn't have a bolt or mostly lever action hung in the back window of a pickup with two dead deer tied over the front fenders....it didn't count! Now...no more back window guns, but multiple stickers of AK's, AR's or other over the top...

    18th Century Artisans Show 2024

Rick I'm retired as well.....but I am a sucker with little regard to common sense when seeing all this eye candy; however, my wife does her best to hold the control knob! I think most of these great shows are in the east and northeast because that is where colonization of our country began and...

Produced by Duelist1954. I found this video very interesting and sources of items I did not know. Interesting pre-flintlock powder horns at 4:36 Wheelock at 7:18....also look up Clay Smith Guns, Inc. He shows another consignment wheelock. Note: You may need to roll the video back to the beginning

Cutting the wheel-lock pan - wow...

Very old thread....but good info. Flint and Chert with a minimum hardness of 7 is excellent in flintlocks. I live in the heart of Chert country...Georgetown Chert....yep, live in Georgetown. I have tried using chert in my flintlock...a good piece sparks as good as black flint, maybe not as...
