The Spanish Miquelet and Saxon over/under dual-lock Wheelock pistol

Wow...either someone who bought it the first time is trying to flip it for a profit...or it didn't sell the the first time?

    Matchlock with sliding pan cover

I did not know that the pan cover opened with a pull of the trigger on a snapping matchlock...I thought only the serpent was released! Much like a wheelock......thanks!

The Spanish Miquelet and Saxon over/under dual-lock Wheelock pistol

My apologies if these are duplicates on other posts....Note that the speaker states flints are used on wheelocks, instead of pyrite? Ignore the verbal descriptions, but the beauty of the guns speak for themselves:

Wheellock wheels without 'cross grooves' cut across the wheel

Flint: That's very interesting! Suppose without cross grooves, the friction wheel had more friction all along the 3 longitudinal grooves; i.e. roughened up slightly crosswise around its circumfrance? Of course roughened up too much would create more pyrite stress than 3 cross grooves........or...

    India Torador Matchlock Wall Gun

The old boy in the shooting position is sighting down the bbl.....finger on the trigger.....with the sharp toe of the buttstock stuck in his shoulder, should have several medics nearby to put what is left of his shoulder and cheek bone after the recoil spins him 360 degrees! The ole boy in...

    India Torador Matchlock Wall Gun

I think I would rather depend on the likes of our barking little 22# Cockapoo....he lets us know if someone opens a garage door 2 blocks away! I think he hears ants crawl!!

    India Torador Matchlock Wall Gun

Yes I agree...the zoom was about the larger picture of Indian warfare and its terrain from 1560-1616...how it affected their warfare rather than focusing on small arms, other than paintings of archers and matchlocks. Seemed emphasis was on use of cannons and how terrain from western open areas...

    India Torador Matchlock Wall Gun

My unquestioned thoughts on these firearms prior to the 20 Century; they were made not by armorers, but by hundreds, if not thousands of low caste uneducated villagers who had the talent to make a bare minimum living being paid by the number of guns made (given a sample to copy) and used by an...

    10-barrel ‘Volley Gun’ repeater …

Flint62: Do you have a photo of the breech end? Never seen one of these before...very interesting to say the least!!! Is that what happened to the Passenger Pigeon population?

    Revoling wheellock pistol

Yes Colts original revolver was not the overwhelming success for the Army or law enforcement...until the Colt Walker was introduced to the Texas Rangers...its success in that venture put Colt on the map which led to the the civil war successes for Colt going forward. The rest of the story is...

    Revoling wheellock pistol

I'll bet a dollar to a donut that Sam Colt got his idea of his famous revolver patent from such a weapon!

    Revoling wheellock pistol

TobJohn: First on the muzzle end of each cylinder....Much like Colt recommended with his famous B/P revolvers....and even today.....once the cylinder was loaded, cover the open end of the cylinder with beeswax, tallow, etc.. even today, when those steps are not taken with a cap & Ball...

    Proper metal finish for matchlock

My method in the past...shoot two or three rounds, then swab the bore with a "DAMP" not wet, mixture of 35% Dawn to water. Repeat after shooting another few rounds if you need more tarnish. The swab will come out "Black"...rub the black swab over the shiny parts. Works great on putting light...

    Revoling wheellock pistol

30" bbl., multiple cylinders and pistol grip: Oxymoron..! Trying to appease those who wanted a carbine for greater range, those who wanted a pistol for convenience and those that wanted more firepower....Great engineering back in the day.... Don't think it solved the solution for either...

    Wood from Bradford Pear

I have no opinion of the "WOOD" one way or the other; however don't confuse the fruit bearing Pear Trees like Bartlett, Kieffer or Summercrisp with the "ornamental" Bradford Pear which is an import from Korea and China. "Why are Bradford pear trees banned in some states? Callery trees have...
