    RWS 1075 Percussion Caps

Well the "Yellow tin" and the "red tin" both say 1075 plus on the label and they are both made by RWS so I would say they are the same. I believe there is a difference between the 1075 and the 1075 plus.

Very stuck minie ball, tried everything having to pull the breech plug

Removing the breech plug from an original Springfield is neither difficult nor complicated. A flat faced plug with a tang that's tapered like commonly found on muzzleloaders. Straight right hand common threads. Anyone that's ever taken a plug out and some that haven't yet should be able to do it.

Spiller & Burr cleaning and reassemble

There's nothing wrong with the hand spring and it goes in the same channel in the frame as the hand itself. Screw the hand to the hammer and place that assembly in the frame with it's screw. The hand and its spring go in the channel in the frame with the spring toward the back of the gun. The...

    Cased Revolver - Update

I do like cased pistols and yours looks fine. Hampel's makes a nice product at a reasonable price. You do need a period mold in the case too. :)

Very stuck minie ball, tried everything having to pull the breech plug

Ok I'm an N-SSA member. NRA muzzleloading instructor & range officer and have held 5 other instructor ratings over the years but I'm no expert. At 79 years I still haven't seen or done everything yet. I did post (#24 1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues) about all I could think of to help the...

    1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues

If you have a mini that's under bore size stuck in the barrel there is absolutely no reason to pull the breech plug to remove it unless you have drilled a hole completely through it. I'm guessing that since you soaked the barrel in Dawn & water the fouling above the minie is completely gone...

    1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues

As it's an early 63 they were likely using a left over plate. 61model and 63 model locks are identical except for the hammers. All other parts interchange.

    1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues

These do not have the value of the 40" barreled guns and I wouldn't dare give a value. In my case its value would be as a shooter as I shoot a shortened 61 and my wife shoots a shortened 63. The Whitney stock is interesting and the link below may give you the answer. Does it have the US stamp...

    1861 Springfield Barrel Patina issues

That's a nice piece but I wouldn't worry about patina. Clean it, patina wouldn't come off with soap. The rifle left the aromry with all the metal parts finished "armory bright" which means polished bare steel. Defarb means to remove all the Italian proofs and script from the gun and possibley...

    Underhammer question

Go to the photo in post 12 and look at the tip of the trigger, the intersection of the red line and the blue line. The photo is in the full **** position. If the tip of your trigger does not look exactly like that it may be broken off. If so it will not engage the full **** notch. This is a...

    Springfield maybe?

The lockplate is flush with the stock and lacks a bevel around the edge which it should have and it would be inleted only to the edge of the bevel. That guard bow never had provision for a sling swivel and if the lug were ground off it would be obvious. The breech looks similar to a 55 or 61...
