CLOSED 1855 or 1861 rifle musket barrel bands

That band is not for a 55 or 61 Springfield, but for an 1861 special model and is vastly different from a Springfield band.

Whatever Happened to PA/KY Rifle Collection?

There was the Eagle Museum in that general area that had a large collection of long rifles but it closed sometime in the late 80s or early 90s and I have no idea what became of the collection.

3F powder vs. 2F in .54cal flintlock rifle

I used 2fg in the pan on my Bess loading from paper cartridges by the manual including priming from the cartridge before loading. I never experienced a failure to fire or a hang fire however the Bess is like using a bulldozer for a lawn tractor.

    Unknown (to me) parts

The object in the first photo with the vertical slot is the ram from a cap & ball revolver loading lever. In the second photo you have some barrel band springs (top one is broken) for military muskets and not necessarily for unmentionable guns.

billiard cannon and lead pool balls

My wife bought used tennis balls for our dogs on eBay (I've also bought used golf balls there for my mortar) and you might be able to find them for free at the tennis court. If you have to buy them the "dog toy" tennis balls are cheaper but nowhere near as durable. If you need weight they can...

Loft find looking for help to identify pistol.

A very inexpensive, think $30, from the 1970s or 60s that has been neglected.

    Unknown Flintlock pistol

I wouldn't trust that barrel but if you are determined to work on it do it right. You can blow the breech out with a blank and the next person who gets it may try to fire it with a real load and ball.

J style Muff Pistol wooden grip replacement

There is such a variation in styles for those type pistols that there's no way it could happen. A person would have to have hundreds of patterns and probably only sell one grip per pattern. I made a replacement walnut grip for a tinder lighter years ago and it was fairly easy.

    reproduction smith carbine manual

The (I call it a lifter) is brass and you can solder a piece to the top or replace it, parts are available. I suspect your problem is with the top strap though. Pietta Smiths have a reputation as being thumb busters. I have to place mine across my legs and use the thumps of both hands to open...

Any idea how to remove the sling swivel?

If there isn't an obvious screw the they are riveted on with the ends of the rivet being flush.

    Musket Caps?

"The transaction appeared to go through??" I'm sure the $$ part of the transaction went through but it's possible that's as far as it went. I hope that the deal is legitimate for your sake. Please keep us informed on how it works out as we all would like to find caps at those prices.

    Musket Caps?

No option to pay with a regular credit card, prices that are too low. Let us know when you receive your caps. RWS caps are currently around $130/1000 OTC.

    Musket Caps?

https://vortexreloads.com/product/rws-musket-caps/ Price is way too low and only accepts Zelle, Apple Pay, Venmo & PayPal. https://reloadingdepotusa.com/product/rws-musket-caps/ Price also too low, only accepts Zelle, Cash App & PayPal. I agree with DeeTV, both scams. :(

billiard cannon and lead pool balls

A 2 Oz. charge will put a billiard or lead ball in low earth orbit. The full size Whitworth 12 pounder in my photos and the video above was using a 5 Oz. charge.

How to cut grease notches in a ‘58 Remington cylinder pin?

45D (Mike) has posted here about his modification which involves cutting a groove across the top of the cylinder pin at the junction of the pin and frame. A common modification among serious N-SA shooters is to fit a bushing to the cylinder which covers the cylinder/frame gap. This requires...

    Custom Revolvers

So did Colt copyright the term "Screwless Frame" and if so is it in the public domain now? Without the capitals it's just a generic term for any firearm without screws (Mauser broomhandle) or hidden screws.

    Lee molds

Lee currently lists round ball molds in .535", .562" and .575". I have 2 Lee double cavity molds that cast fairly heavy bullets and my experience is that it is very difficult to maintain them at a constant temperature. There isn't enough material in the new style blocks to deal with the heat.

    Knife/Short Sword

Aschaffenburg is a city in Germany, southeast of Frankfurt. A typical German hunting sword of a type used up till WW2 and may still be in use. They were used a stabbing weapons, look at the shape of the blade and tip, and I expect yours doesn't have much of a cutting edge but is tapered from...
