Isn't this interesting...a cap gun...I had no clue!

If you look closely at the face of the hammer you will see a groove cut across the lower part. The lower edge of the hammer is sharpened to cut the tape off as the gun is fired.

    Eli Whitney Musket model1812 ?

What's the barrel length? It looks like it has been cut down. It should be 42" with 3 bands.

What should I do with an "extra" Pedersoli Bess I got pretty cheap?

A lot of the Besses came with a light stock. I seem to remember most of them back in the 70s as having a light stock, mine does.

    Euroarms Remington info needed

Actually other than the lack of visible threads on the barrel there is nothing similar to a Beals there and it is pure New Model Army (1863) otherwise and it isn't a copy of the Old Model Army (1861) either. Most folks wouldn't know that so just shoot it and enjoy it for what it is...

Would somebody be so kind as to help me identify this Flintlock?

If it were a boarding gun I would expect it to be of a fairly large caliber, over .50. It looks like the rear of the trigger guard was sawed off which would make it a liability in combat as it could be easily bent jamming the trigger. In reality it probably would not have been reloaded in...

torque setting for percussion pistol nipples

    For grade 5 bolts. Nipples probably aren't more than grade 5 (tensile 120,000 PSI min.) strength and the bolster/drum may not even be grade 5. 1/4-28: 8 ft-lbs dry, 6.3 lubed 5/16-24: 19 dry, 14 lubed Metric 4.8 class (torque in Ft-Lbs) 8mm: 11 dry, 8.5 lubed 10mm: 21 dry, 17 lubed...

Who made the Lyman 1858 Remington?

Armi San Palo/Euroarms made a 58 in what folks call the Beals style though there is nothing Beals style or 1861 Old Model Army about it. It's pure New Model Army other than the lack of exposed barrel threads. ASP/Eurroarms will have a DGG stamp (probably faint) on the underside of the barrel...

    Ami San Paolo pistols

I have an ASP 58 that was built from a kit. The hammer was soft and the full **** notch disappeared shortly after I started shooting it. A friend fitted a current Pietta hammer to it which required narrowing on a belt sander. He used all the Asp internals otherwise. A Uberti cylinder is too...

    Ami San Paolo pistols

    DGG marked guns are ASP/Euroarms.

    Ami San Paolo pistols

Armi San Palo became Euroarms. They were the equal of any Italian revolver at the time. Parts are almost impossible to find but other brands can be fitted.

New to me: Le Page Reproduction

"Speaking of rifling, this looks more like lands and grooves than rifling." Rifling consists of lands and grooves. :) Without a patch a round ball or bullet that will engage the rifling would be difficult to load and could cause leading. It sounds like you need a ball smaller than .440"...

    Jerry L. Harmon Mississippi Rifle

Jerry passed away a few years back. He was very well known among the N-SSA. He built and refurbished CW arms but was best known for his reproduction parts which were the equal or better quality than original Springfield parts. Among the things he made were sights, locks, internals, plates and...
