    Aging cherry

My first build, about 40 years ago. Cherry stock, Minwax cherry stain. Why Minwax stain? No one told me that I could use other methods of finishing the stock. Minwax did bring out the grain of the cherry.[ATTACH

Black Powder Banned at my Gun Club!

And this is one of the board members? Vacuuming any gun powder is a huge mistake. No way, Jose. The outdoor carpet was/is a poor decision. It does catch any unburned powder, as you found to be the case. At my R/P club, on the pistol range, we have smooth plastic sheets to catch any errant brass...

    Carbines

If you have a rifle in mind, the Jaegar is a relatively short barreled rifle, compared to the Pennsylvania long rifle or fowler. Fitted with a sling, easily carried over the shoulder. My Jaegar has a barrel length of 31", Getz swamped barrel. Just 6" longer than my CW Enfield carbine.

    NMLRA 3-Year Memberships

If you have a life membership with NMLRA, look at the cover of your Muzzle Blast magazine. You will see a date printed on the right side of the name and address block. That is when NMLRA expects you to expire.

    NMLRA 3-Year Memberships

I had the three year membership for many years. Finally upgraded to Senior life membership. In return, NMLRA has given me an expiration date 🧐. I called the NMLRA office and inquired how they knew when I was going to pass away. I was told to call back if I exceeded my expiration date, so a...

40 grs FFFg is great for paper targets. Easy to shoot for beginners. Recoil is minimal.

    Little Help Needed Please

Here is my guess. Try lowering your powder charge. My newest build has a Colerain .50 calibre barrel with deep rifling. I started with 50 grs FFFg but I was not happy with the groups. Then I dropped the powder charge to 40 grs FFFg and now I get better groups. This using a .490 roundball and a...

    cap lock work

I replaced a Dixie flint lock with one from L&R. I had to do a little trimming of wood around the new lock to get fitted to the lock mortice. New lock really works. Good spark from the flint and frizzen. L&R is highly recommended by me.

    NRA Women On Target

Every year my R/P club hosts Women On Target. The club is closed to members for the day. The ladies get a chance to try all types of firearms, both the unmentionable and muzzle loading rifles. That is something I have done for 10 years now. I get them to shoulder and find the sights and try the...

    Round ball spin.

Another bp shooter and I posed this question to an unmentionable shooter. He pulled a politician move. He spoke for 15 minutes and never answered the original question.🤔:dunno:😖

    Capper for RWS caps?

The Ted Cash snail capper works well with CCI and RWS 1075 caps in my Pietta Colt and all of my caplock rifles. Getting the caps lined up square on the nipple can be a little tricky at times but, the bottom line is, it works.
