    Ground hog recipe?

Boil until tender, remove meat from the bones and combine with red curry, roasted squash and other vegetables as available and as you prefer. Serve over rice, quinoa or millet, again as you prefer. My wife even likes it this way!

    Revisiting hardtack

I make a modified hardtack using sourdough discard, whole wheat flour, salt and enough water to form a stiff ball. Roll it to about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to cut into squares then use a fork or stick to poke holes in each square. Let the sourdough work for 30 minutes or so...

    18th century folding knife

Making a folder is harder than a fixed blade! Nice job!

How varied was the craftsmanship on original Kentucky rifles?

As I recall, the “Feather” gun and the “Woodsrunner” that Kibler took inspiration from are not considered to be well proportioned or constructed. So varied ability among builders seems very probable.

    Obsidian

All that I have used for arrowheads has been fragile co pared to flint. I think it would work, but not last long.

    Kibler Fowler, Fusil conversion

16 gauge is available as is the 20. Here they are for comparison.

    Kibler Fowler, Fusil conversion

I am no expert on how correct this would be. I do think it would look pretty! As for a bayonet, I wouldn’t use one hard on such a svelte barrel. The 16 gauge is very thin at the muzzle. The 20 gauge is just a bit thicker so I would use that instead, but stabbing only, no stab and cut!

    Kibler 16 ga barrel question

I have one. It is pretty thin. How deep does a jug choke go? I can mic the end and some math would give you some information.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Good old Birchwood Casey! I have used some of their other products in the past. Largely because it was available in gun shops back in the day. Thanks for the recommendation.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Working on a Kibler fowler. This walnut stock has some very nice figure in the butt! It also has some of the most stubborn and difficult grain issues I have seen! I have worked with quite a bit of walnut in my life, I have never had any that has as much or as stubborn fibers. I hope the pictures...

    Kibler Fowler Arrived!

I think you could brown the barrel as is. I am going to sand it a bit smoother and leave it in the white

    HELP!!! Kibler Fowler??? 🦆🦆🦆

I got my Kibler fowler with both barrels so I can shoot roundball with the 20 (with appropriate charges) and shot with the 16. Many have great success with turkeys using a 20 gauge so if I wanted one barrel for both I would get the 20.

    Kibler Fowler Arrived!

The gun arrived with the rear ramrod entry pipe, butt plate and trigger guard installed. I scraped a few feather-like bits of wood clinging to the barrel channel wherever it is penetrated by a slot and where the channel goes from flat to round. About 30 seconds of work. The barrel slipped right...
