Maybe to allow for a slimmer profile under the lock?

Ram rod wont go all the in....im stumped!

Does this rifle have a lock bolt that is grooved to clear the ramrod? If so make sure you use that bolt in the forward position and orient it to clear. Just a guess on my part!

    Muzzleloading Show

Some are big, some are small. Most are fun so enjoy the ones you can attend! I am sad that this year I won’t be able to attend the biggest one near me The Kalamazoo Living History expo. Kalamazoo Living History Show

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Pinned the barrel and refined the trigger. As I have mentioned before, this sideslapper/mule ear lock requires a backwards motion to trip the sear so it took me a couple of tries to arrive at the best method (that I could achieve with the constants I have). Next, a trigger plate and the tang...

SOLD Now with lock! Petaconica Northwest Trade Gun “kit”

It is a significant price deal. But if I never get time to build I would rather have someone else enjoy it and get it out of my way.

Anyone else chomping at the bit for the Kibler smoothbore?

As I recall he has said that the plan is for a 16 gauge and a 20 gauge each with the same barrel profile. This likely means the 16 ga will be lighter than the 20 gauge.

SOLD Now with lock! Petaconica Northwest Trade Gun “kit”

Petaconica supplied the barrel saying it would be Colerain or Rice. I don’t see any markings to confirm either.

SOLD Now with lock! Petaconica Northwest Trade Gun “kit”

I forgot to answer your question about the name. Petaconica calls it a “North West trade gun”. http://longrifles-pr.com/northwesttradegun.shtml By the way, the prices shown on their website are out of date. You have to contact the to get actual prices.

SOLD Now with lock! Petaconica Northwest Trade Gun “kit”

20 gauge. This style typically calls for a round face English lock. I bought it without a lock because I wanted to use a Kibler round face lock. You can use any lock you want since the stock is not inlet for the lock.

I have been since it was hinted at!

SOLD Now with lock! Petaconica Northwest Trade Gun “kit”

Petaconica doesn’t really make kits. This is a collection of parts from Petaconica River for making a Northwest Trade Gun. Still in the box they shipped it in. No work has been done to this. I got excited about trade guns and fowlers and had given up on Kibler producing one. I got busier than...

    Underhammer alert! Doctor Gorning's design

I saw my first mule ear lock at a my very first muzzleloader shoot. I thought it was a brilliant idea and resolved to build one. I am part way there. Had I seen an underhammer first I would have thought brilliant, but not as ”pretty”.
