What got you interested in flintlocks?

Foxfire was also an inspiration, but latent. Getting older like I am I was drawn to the slower pace and atmosphere of woodswalks. But what made me go for it was a tv show my wife was watching for a while called Outlander. A season of it was set in Colonial America and the muzzleloaders intrigued me.

    Kibler hawken

I will attempt a serious response. Jim has announced his next kit will be a fowler. As I recall he said it would be a while before the next kit…. I would guess at least a year. It may or may not be a Hawken.

Fusil de Chasse , for fella in N.H.

This example has some of the best lines I have seen on a FdC. Beautiful! Doesn’t look like a cheek slapper either.

Performance difference between Goex & Swiss powder ?

Swiss is about 10% more energetic I have read. I have found it to lower point of impact slightly in one rifle compared to Goex. Also less fowling.

Carolina gun out of a pecatonica NWTG stock?

It wouldn’t be “perfect” but I think you could get close enough to be happy with it as a project within your skills. I have the Petaconica NWTG kit that will be my next pr. The barrel is thick but unless you are willing to tackle the barrel inletting you are sort of stuck with it. I am going...
