Building short N.W. Trade Gun ...

You keep trying to build one with enough character and fight that nobody will be able to pay enough to take it away from you. Good luck!

Kibler's Longrifles new product announcement tomorrow

You could always sell one… not that you will, but you could! The first one is for practice so you get the carved one perfect.

    Building a Fusil de Chasse

I have been wanting a smoothbore flintlock for a couple of years. Your threads about building inspire and entertain! You have a certain aesthetic and approach what some term, “workmanlike” approach to building that is a little unique and fun. Keep it up please!

Questions on finishing technique on Kibler lock

I have found Kibler to be very responsive! Jim has been on this forum with helpful information and has said, if you run into an issue with his product contact them. But that said, your idea of seeking information from multiple sources is not a bad idea!

    Flintlock Kit

A Woodsrunner at $1000.00 is a very good deal. I almost wish I didn’t already have one! I love mine and it is reportedly the easiest of all of the Kibler models to assemble. I found it to be so. I am sure I could have assembled and shot it in one day if I didn’t take time to finish the brass...

    Flintlock Kit

If you want to build as fast as possible with the smallest set of tools possible the Kibler is the (only) way to go. If you want to save a little money, want a challenge or want a type of gun that Kibler doesn’t offer then Petaconica is a fine option. I, and a lot of others would recommend NOT...

Questions on finishing technique on Kibler lock

As others have said, disassemble (Jim’s video link), if you have trouble with this ask for help. Then fine files, sandpaper wrapped around various shapes. I also used a buffer as a final step. About 2 hours of work.

Neil Fields 40 Caliber Vincent Rifle

I went with 36 inches. I am happy with it so far. A convertible, with percussion and flint would be interesting. I saw a guy post about making a convertible Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle. It was sweet!

My scale says it is a bit more than 3 pounds so not as light as I thought I remembered.

This is the only photo I have on my computer. I will try to take a better one later today. It is 24 gauge, 42 inches long and very slim. 44 ounces according to the seller.
