There are some slight differences in the lock works from gun to gun on these Indias…. On mine a 5/8 x 5/8 fits this one about perfect 👍 Although the frizzen is generously wide so you could go wider…maybe 3/4 ? any longer then 5/8 on mine it’ll touch the frizzen face at half **** 🤔 -

Finally got the entry pipe inletted ! Went pretty good….but I will say it’s easier to install one from scratch then to try and match/hide one into an existing spot ! 🥴 Still gotta shape down the forestock to match the new profile of the pipe and deepen up the rod channel to line up with the... -

While playing with the entry pipe I wanted to play with finishes to try and darken up the wood and even out the tones….it had an almost pinkish hue in places ! So I’ve had great success in the past with ebonizing solutions (vinegar & steel wool) so i tried that. I suspect applying a tannin... -

So finally got some home time away from work….🙄 Had to tidy up the new pipe guide before I could begin to inlet it … As cast its kinda neat you can see the original “assembly numerals” on it. Never see them but kinda neat they are there ! Cleaned up the cast marks and sprue…tried to leave... -

Finally took the leap and draw knifed off the “belly” 😱 This step had me abit worried…..definitely was lottsa wood to play with under the ramrod channel/hole so it should work out okay! Sure changes the profile from that low belly to more like it should be👌 Before… After… -

Getting there !!! 🥱 Just laying out the lock panels….they are certainly “generous” in size and need abit of reducing. The worst area is the rear where they run down into the grip….makes it very uncomfortable to hold. Both sides create big lumps that sit right in the web of the hand…. 😢... -

Last bit of metal work finished up…. Before… After….. Not perfect but certainly better 👍 Filled the cockeyed pin holes….shouldn’t be too noticeable once the finish is all done. Now to get to work thinning down those lock panels and that forend !!! -

Yep just keep finding things to do…🙄 Locks all back together….functions way better, lightened up all the springs, polished the contact points, and reworked the sear & notch abit ! Runs quite abit smoother now and the trigger doesn’t need two fingers to pull ! Just gonna tidy up the pan abit...
