    Euroarms P53, help me out

Yeah, getting replacement parts for those can be very hard.

    SOLD 1863 Springfield price drop

It's definitely a part repro, but looks like a nicely built one in beautiful shape with defarbing done. What stumps me is the lock. The plate must be a repro given the condition of the case hardening color. But it looks like original internal parts. Those won't fit on Italian repro locks, so...

Took my CVA .36 squirrel rifle to the range for the first time. This gun is a lot of fun to shoot. .350 PRB with 30gr of Swiss 3FG.

    Buying Original?

Get an original 1842. I got one that had the bore relined by Bob Hoyt before I bought it and it was less than $1k. It's a great shooter. Also, you can buy spare original main springs and other parts for the 42s very cheap.

WITHDRAWN Original .50 Smith Cavalry Carbine

Do the serial numbers on the bottom of the hinge block match? Thanks.

    SOLD 1861 Enfield $550 shipped

Looks like a relined barrel. Hoyt? Bet that's a great shooter. Great deal on this gun.

    Do you shoot old "Originals"?

I have no interest in owning a gun I can't shoot. I have original model Enfield 1853 and Springfield 1863 muskets, and 5th model Burnside and 1863 Sharps carbines. I shoot them regularly.

    Euroarms P53, help me out

That's a good deal if it's in nice shape. Would be interested to hear more about markings on it and serial number to know when it was made and if its all Italian or part British (i.e., Parker-Hale barrel and lock). The bluing is faded most likely do to handling of the muzzle during loading. My...

    Minié ball casting results

I use +/- 1% in weight as my basis for keepers. So on your list I would probably not have tossed anything. That's a good cast in my opinion.

My first Enfield or military style long Gun

The Enfield 1858 and the 1855 Harpers Ferry Rifles (specific model, not to be confused with the M1855 musket) were 2-band. During the ACW a lot of 3-band guns were also cut down to make the shorter 2-band artillary rifles. Many of the 2-band repros mimic those.
