    Goex Upsetting Dealers

I'm more curious to hear the reviews of the new Goex powder from those who bought some. How'd it shoot and clean up for you? Any different than the old Goex?

    Enfield P53 reproductions

As I promised above, here are some (amateur) pics comparing my original contract P53 to my P-H P53.

    Enfield P53 reproductions

I've got an all British-made P-H that I bought from a person who used to shoot it in N-SSA skirmishes, and I have an original 53 Enfield contract musket. I'll do a few side-by-side pics and post them just for reference.

how to remove rust from breech?

Very nice. I use steel sponge instead of steel wool to avoid having all the little particles left to clean up that the wool leaves. You can grab a bag of steel sponge from your local dollar store.

    Rookie Woodsrunner build

That's a beautiful rifle. Nice job! I'll be attempting my first build starting soon. My Colonial 58 rifle with cherry stock arrives tomorrow. I hope I can do as good of a job as you did.

How often do you guys take apart and oil your locks?

I don't disassemble it unless needed for adjustment or repair. Pull it once in a while after a number of shoots, inspect it, then put it in a baggie with some Simple Green and distilled water, and put that in my ultrasonic cleaner for a couple of cycles, take out, rinse and dry, then oil/grease it.

    A List of Beginner's Tools

I like my Wheeler screwdriver set. It sits next to my bench and has pretty much any size head needed. Anyone have a favorite set of chisels they would recommend?

So how do you rate the cherry stock vs. maple? I want to get a colonial kit to finish this winter and trying to decide on stock wood type.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Casting RB and conicals for my "new" Ruger Old Army pistol. Way too hot and humid to be doing this, but I'm going to shoot it tomorrow.

    Percussion cap holders

I grabbed a few capper like that off Ebay and they work great. Especially needed them for my Uberti Rem 1858.

    A Sharps project

I am really impressed. Congrats on the great job. Have you shot it yet? I'm waiting for an original 1863 I just bought to arrive. Mine will have to remain in worn finish condition as I would not be able to do what you did. Looking forward to making cartridges and shooting it.
