    20 Gauge Plastic Wads?

I got my best patterns using a single heavy nitro card over the powder, and a single overshot card. Though I have yet to try the SkyChief Load

    Indian Percussion Nipple Thread Size(s)?

It’s an 11gauge..running about 6 1/2 lbs. @wganz has been researching the gun, it seems to be based on an English Sporting Rifle…I have to say that @wganz is a pretty sharp guy, very impressive. I spent about 6 to 8 months trying to find more information on that gun…he did it in a couple days...

    20 Gauge Plastic Wads?

I quit using plastic wads in my blackpowder smoothbores…when it comes time to clean the gun, you have a stringy plastic mess to scrub out of that bore. Using a thick Nitro Card and/or a lubricated fibre wad helps…a little. But then…why use the plastic wads?

    Question

Not the best image..bit of a balancing act, but here is my Alamo Rifle next to my Early Virginia. 100 grain charge in the Early Virginia, good solid shove. 100 grain charge in the Pedersoli Alamo…pick up arm, use nail gun to re-attach arm, use remnants of re-attached arm to reload and do it...

    Question

@Tom A Hawk That was awesome…Loved it. That calibre, in a traditional platform…drops elk, like right now. Ohhh, I miss those days in the field. Those were some grand doins, shining times…

My longest learning curve with kit building

@Pilgrim I shot Percussion for most of my BlackPowder Life…Flintlocks are such a synergistic dimension, beyond Percussion. It’s crazy…it’s addictive. Enjoy the addiction…

My longest learning curve with kit building

Welcome to the 59 club. This summer at 59, I built my first ever Kibler. I was fairly intimidated…but these Kibler Kits are so well made, wonderful experience. I’m already dropping hints to my wife about getting a .58 calibre Kibler Colonial Smoothbore…it may take some time.

    Request info on Baker rifles

A while back it was being rumored that Pedersoli was actually working on producing Baker Rifles…I’m sure, but I think it was being set for next year as a release. There’s a thread around here somewhere, that contains the discussion. Covid has kinda messed things up. I love the Sharpe’s...

For anyone considering an Indian manufactured Flintlock

    I’ve only ever seen smoothbores.
  16. Rock Home Isle

    Question

No…From what I tell in your image; your rifle looks to have a wider buttstock profile. That’s a danged nice Water Buffalo yah got there… The Pedersoli Alamo, that I mentioned in my post, has a narrow buttstock profile. That blasted gun is so fricken accurate, but those hunting loads just cut...
  17. Rock Home Isle

    Question

Back when I started shooting blackpowder, that was how we found a starting point, to begin load development…it wasn’t the end point. My .50 calibre CVA Mountain Rifle…I started with 50 grains of ffg…went up in 5 grain increments until I had a nice tight group. Then repeated the process...
  18. Rock Home Isle

    Question

Those weren’t hunting loads…those loads were not for bringing down big game; they were for stopping people in wartime.
  19. Rock Home Isle

    Question

The only interesting gun is an accurate gun. I find the most accurate load that is at least 85 grains, and that becomes my hunting load…my .50’s seem to all settle in around 93 grains to 98 grains as very accurate hunting loads. On the other hand, my .54’s seem to have a lot of variation as to...
  20. Rock Home Isle

    Question

That 120 grain load just sounds so painful from the bench. I’ve shot those loads out of my .50 calibre Pedersoli Alamo rifle, and that thin stock profile is just abusive with those loads. 90 grains to 100 grains is a solid region to be in, for hunting…keep in mind, my loads all have elk as a...
