    Anyone recognize this rifle

Those early CVA Frontier Rifles were very reliable as percussion guns. All the 70’s manufacture CVA’s that I’ve held & shot were accurate…some few were exceedingly accurate. The Flintlocks were a hit and miss situation, the frizzens were thin, and there must have been a lot of variation in the...

For anyone considering an Indian manufactured Flintlock

@Banjoman your gun looks well loved. I swear, every time you post images of this gun, I fall for it again & again. Here’s my 11gauge India made smoothbore. It was very inexpensive. I bought it to use as a loaner. But it’s just too nice…so still loooking for that loaner smoothbore. I’ve taken...

    Making stuff

Here’s my 1st attempt at Scrimshaw on a powder horn. The images that I etched into the horn are images that have special meaning to me. I read the journals of Lewis & Clark, and I was impressed by the entries on the American Grizzly…so yeah, here’s my grizzly. My most memorable moments out...

    What's causing this?

My old Lee Pot is down to its toes…I finally gave up and ordered a new one, this time I went for the 20 lb pot. Tracking says it should be here Wednesday…

    What's causing this?

If you can control the gas flow, you’ll be able to control the temperature in the lead pot.

    No Buttplate?

Classic PoorBoy does not have a butt plate, so there is historical precedent.

    What's causing this?

If you can turn the flame up, and turn the flame down…it should work fine.

    Being here expensive!!!

I was really convinced that I had all the muzzleloaders that I ever would need. Nice mix of hunting rifles, covered my small up through big game needs…couple smoothbores, allowed for some upland game, mixed small game, and water fowl… Then I started coming here…OMG, I was so wrong. My dad’s...

    Funny Muzzleloading Experience

Just got back from the annual family Dove Hunt…the Kosha about killed me, I’m getting so allergic to that stuff. Each year is worse than the last. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/tales-of-makin-meat.151252/ In a week or so, I’ll head back for a late season dove hunt. Farmers should...

    What's causing this?

I turn on the lead pot, once the lead is melted, I drop in the thermometer in the pot. Let it come to temp, and then adjust the pot so that the temp falls between 700 & 725. Heat up the mold, and start pouring. If I get low on lead, drop in more…watch the temperature swing on the thermometer...

    Funny Muzzleloading Experience

In the fall, winter, and spring, I shoot with the FtLupton Club. From early summer through early fall, that range gets so hot, it’s like sitting in an oven, simply miserable…that’s when I shift ranges and go shoot up in the mountains at the Estes range. You would think those guys have never seen...
