    I like to slice thin across ( 1/4 inch ) then flour and fry hot in crisco or veg oil .Some salt and pepper added to flour.

    As nasty as it may sound boiled until meat can slip off bone, then served with mustard is very good. Be darn sure if it was a buck that it wasnt even close to rutting (absoulty no pink tinge to fat, only snow white fat).

    In that case you are absolutely right ,no better than gut shot. Thank god I am just a medicor shot (hence the extra effort to get close as I can) and prefer to shoot the in mid to upper neck area, or upper neck from behind.
