    Trade gun for grizzlies

In Penicaut's diary https://www.amazon.com/Calumet-Penicaut-Narrative-Adventure-Louisiana/dp/B000I2XVOW#:~:text=Fleur de Lys and Calumet; being There is an excellent story of Penicaut and a friend shooting a bear with trade guns, first in the face with shot and as things progress with ball. If...

Kibler fowler - Has anyone shot round ball?

The barrel will spring back and that is why I prefer the block it on both ends and use a hydraulic press in the middle method. You also need a way of measuring after each try without removing the barrel from the setup. After a push with the press it will spring back, measure, if it did not...

Which is historically correct, precut patches or cut at muzzle?

let's see them. Not saying they did not run into situations where they needed to hammer one down, but I see no period writings or archeological evidence of "hammers" being carried on a 1700's or frontiersman's person or being available at trading posts for the purpose of loading. All existing...

Kibler fowler - Has anyone shot round ball?

Barrel bending is easily done and works great to adjust the POI to match the POA of a smoothbore. Discussed many times on this site if you do a search. I have done it similar to Flintandsteel's method.

    Longrifle sling?

Hawkeye used one in Last of the Mohicans so they must be period correct 🤣

For future reference, disassemble the gun and apply a good sealer to all the internal wood, two or more coats if your anal, before reassembly coat the bottom of the barrel and thimbles etc. that never see daylight with RIG or similar long term storage rust preventative. Can I switch to left handed shooting?

Had a good friend who lost his right eye (A cautionary tale about using duplex) and as an avid shooter learned to shoot everything left-handed. It can be done just keep trying.

    WANTED Just looking for now?

Why were you pulling the pins for cleaning?

Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

I do basically the same thing, usually epoxy small parts to a piece of scrap wood. Clamp the wood in a vise and file/sand away.

Investarms Plains Pistol Half-**** Not Secure

Most definitely a fly, if you do not like the "de-cocking" aspect of the lock and you do not have set triggers take the lock apart and remove the fly, now you have two clicks, half and full **** and that is it. I would not but that is just me.

Investarms Plains Pistol Half-**** Not Secure

I would love to see pictures of this de-cocking mechanism. Please post pictures so we can all see how this works.

Investarms Plains Pistol Half-**** Not Secure

Agreed, if it has a set trigger it has a fly, if it has a fly you are probably doing exactly what smokeum says.

I can not wait to see pictures of this unique gun.

    How do you hold?

I never liked the 6 o'clock hold, if the distance varies the hold varies, if the bullseye size varies the hold varies. I will zero at a known distance and then shoot at different distances to know how much to compensate, that is what works for me.

Need to get rust out of my bore

Really and truly we are talking about cleaning up a bore and not any unmentionable........ From your first picture I will say it looks like you have most/all of the loose rust out and any further cleaning will yield minimal results. The pits will be there forever without a freshening/rebore...

    Frizzen Face Texture

Your assuming the **** jaw angle is incorrect in the first place, on a Kibler or Chambers or many other quality locks that is just not so.

    Frizzen Face Texture

It is easier to adjust the flint angle than to make changes to the ****.
