    Opinion on maple stock

Liking how that turned out. It's been mentioned already the figure and grain of the wood is what it is but with a little work you can choose to enhance or cover it with different finishes. I have a Jack Garner built flinter that I am fixing to redo the stock on, it's light maple color doesn't...

    Thread Differences in Investarms Locks

Some imperial threaded fasteners are close to metric fasteners. Using metric and imperial thread pitch gauges work well for distinguishing the difference. Just an FYI, imperial counts the threads per inch while metric are the distance between the threads. phil is correct what he says about...

    Pedersoli Kentucky

Other than some minor cosmetic differences that Pedersoli goes by different names. Great marketing by them. I have a 1974 navy arms marked Kentucky .45 and just purchased David Pedersoli Alamo longrifle. Turns out to be the same gun, this one has a dark walnut stock, engraved patch box and was...

It would be nice to share his name with the rest of forum. You can simply say.... I was dealing with __________ and coraspondence stopped after I started digging.

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

You can't have it both ways. I don't quite understand this statement. If you file a claim on the damaged item you don't get to keep it as now belongs to the shipping company or insurance writer. If you waive the insurance you or the buyer keep it. Someone will then have to pay for the...

Shot the old Lyman 54 some yesterday

Well I am somewhat to to this and have the same issues. Seems to be a patch thickness to ball diameter thing vs actual bore size. Guess one could go with smaller dia. ball and a thinner patch material to get a .010" smaller ball/patch combo. The barrel's bore would be another thing to question?

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

If you are paying the premium for higher value why is that fraud? Say you have a $3000 item being shipped and insure it for $6000, you are paying the premium for the higher value. The higher premium covers the increase in value doesn't it?

Was going to say the same thing. It . I have seen some very expensive and rare guns broken in half shipping. It happens more than you think. Insurance is good but it doesn't replace the some things.

Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

I am missing one on my 1977 CVA mountain rifle and I think I'll go out to the shop and make one instead of spending $15-$20 for one and waiting a week to get it. Edited to show what I came up with

Question About HAZMAT Shipments (Black Powder)

Starting point for harvester scorpion pt gold in cooper muzzleloader

I don't think you can talk about inline muzzleloaders here. On another note it sounds like you have great taste in rifles. I have 6 Cooper centerfire rifles, great guns. I actually though about converting one but decided not to. Try modernmuzzleloaders.com good luck!

    Permadex Anti-Sieze

As the old adage goes.... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. On small things such as percussion nipple threads a little goes a long ways. As a heavy equipment, heavy industry machinist/fabricator of 50 years anti-seize is used and used a lot. It will help prevent future...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I replaced the sear spring on an old CVA mountain rifle that broke on me last week while attempting to shoot it.. At the same session I was trying to get a old navy arms Kentucky rifle sighted in and was just about there when the rear sight fell off. Someone did a poor job at filing the dovetail...

Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle Day 1

Agreed, it's takes some real work, skill set, determination , ingenuity, tools, patience etc to actually build anything from raw materials. Only a fraction of this is needed to assemble parts that fit well together. One could say that assembling a traditions or cva or the like kit is harder...

    Navy Arms 1974 Kentucky Rifle

I got the hankering to shoot a 1976 navy arms Kentucky model I acquired cheap. Never gave it a thought until 2 days ago. It's in great shape cosmetically but currently scrubbing to bore as running my scope through it revealed it's not that I should say good. Fixing to go back in the shop and...

    CVA mountain rifle

Thanks to my dad that was born in a different era I have thousands of machine screws and wood screws both steel and brass(some brass with silver plating) that are from the 50's and 60's with slots in them. I have several life times of them. I do occasionally make things using them.
