    Help me choose a kit?

Being a left handed shooter I would prefer a LH flintlock. The choices seem few for kits. Jim Chambers has a LH model but I am confused at how the pricing is done. Kibler seems popular but ty hey choose not to make a leftie. Are there more options on kits that I am unaware of? Could just do a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Well to add to the antler powder measure I made yesterday I came up with some round ball blocks. These are 54’s and made from some quarter sawn post oak. As a newbie I am finding joy in making these little things to aid in shooting.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

It's about the same as leather which is meh. Nothing like the hardwoods I usually use.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Yes sir. It doesn't take much power on antler.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I am new to black powder . I received a possibles bag and powder horn for Christmas. Not a big deal but I made me a powder measure from a deer antler this morning. Next thing will probably be a loading block made of mesquite or pecan.

    Carving antlers

I am fairly positive that antlers can be burnt into. After gathering with friends and towns people along with a little fellowship this morning I used a laser to burn some things into an antler. Designs and drawing are endless.

    Hawkens Peep Sights

I just purchased a Lyman 57 from the classifieds here the other day. I am going to try mounting it on my left hand GPR and see how it goes. I'll most likely have to make a shim for it to get it mounted correctly. If it doesn't work for me I'll let you know.

Another CVA Mountain Rifle ... almost for free!

I certainly cannot speak for the op but believe the hole is drilled after the breech plug is installed and torqued. Using the correct tap drill, it's simple to get everything aligned through the existing hole in the barrel and drilled in a mill.mqking a new breech plug isn't a big deal either...

Another CVA Mountain Rifle ... almost for free!

With a witness mark it just takes a little effort to get the holes lined up. It's a mass produced item and doubt the thread tolerances are 3A/3B. I could be wrong though. Another alternative is simply replace or make a new breech plug then drill and tap after installing.

    Finding flint/chert

Ironically this morning I decided to walk a creek bed here on my South Texas ranch to look for chert rock as I am brand spanking new to flintlocks and it has "sparked" my interest making my own. Googling brought me to this post. Chert and petrified wood is literally found on the ground...

    Your Flintlock History

I am 63 years young bd just got into black powder firearms. A friend of mine asked me if I was interested in some BP guns one of his family members wanted to sell. I said sure so sight unseen I bought 5 rifles for $750 a couple of months ago. This is what I got for that. 2009 Lyman LH .54...

    What Was Under Your Tree?

I had our septic tank pumped out and the aerator pump rebuilt on Friday to the tune of $1000. That hurt my black powder rifle fund. The Mrs did get me a powder horn.
