    1st time shooting a flintlock

I know what you mean about the delay, it's pretty obvious.. LOL In competition I can definitely tell the difference when I prime with 4ffff vs 3fff. I feel that the most reliable way I've ever been able to remove the hangfire/delay/pan flash, has been to load with a quill in the flash hole.. or...

    1st time shooting a flintlock

The round ball with a nice wet patch adds so much to the enjoyment of shooting a Flintlock, ditch those big heavy conicals. Black powder ignites with heat. So the closer you can get to a thermal nuclear explosion in the pan, the faster it'll fire. Been proven time and time again with...

    Washing Patch Material

A hot water wash&dry cycle seems to soften the material, as well as tighten the weave. I feel like I achieved an easier to load, and a more durable patch.

What makes a good patch knife?

A hole saw, polished razor sharp, one pull on the clicker press handle cuts 20 perfectly round patches. Pillow ticking for shooting, and terrycloth for cleaning. Made lots of patch knives and tried for years to enjoy them.. just No-Joy compared to using the round wet patches.

    Flintlock smith needed

If the barrel-wedge/pins are not installed yet, then a little metal removal from the tang or barrel will have it centered within just a few licks of a file.

    Flintlock smith needed

I'm just teasing and making light of the situation but I got to say it.... so I hope you receive this as lighthearted as I mean it.. From the looks of that lock and the way the hooked breech mates (doesn't) mate with the barrel, you don't have much value wrapped up in it, or much of a match...

    Huge Rifle

An old friend of mine about 35 years ago told me that that was what punt guns we're used for(?).. way before internet, so I have no idea of the validity of his statement. So I too would like to learn more about this possibility.

    Huge Rifle

I've heard that fertilizer, not food, was a big driving force behind the slaughter of all those ducks with big punt guns. The Factory's actually were built right on the shores.

Ya' never know what's up there.

That's funny! When I fed winter elk on the Gros Ventre River, east of Jackson Hole Wyoming ,all the snowmobile tours got to see a mountain lion in real life and go home to tell about it! My feed ground manager got wind of it, and came up to see me on snowmobile and said "Have you been seeing a...

Ya' never know what's up there.

It doesn't matter if you "agree", it doesn't change the fact. That is a lion track in the picture. It was a lioness and two cubs. And there was a Tom following them, I'm dead nuts positive because the houndsman treed and killed the Tom. I was a professional fur trapper and animal damage...

Lmf works well, but I'll have to admit that there is a bit of a learning curve. The BC stuff reminds me of that brown paint that Pedersoli uses.

You boys better get on over to our postal match contest and post up some targets! Competition's kind of stiff because some of them boys are walking bench rests. LOL But he prizes are just bragging rights, so there's very little risk.
