    I know this is an old thread but I have a similar question. I have a bore that measures .685. that seems like an oddball bore size. I'm thinking a .015 patch with a .655 ball. Opinions please.

    I believe even in a true case hardening the color is only on the surface. So would scratching reveal anything? The frame is only going to be so hard regardless of the gardening process. I have a Ruger Vaquero that I brushed the color off of with a brass cleaning brush.

    If all else fails use a Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut a slot in the nipple and use a flat blade screw driver to get them out. Nipples are expendable anyway.

    I got mine from Dixie. I put in the order then had to wait until it was back in stock for it to ship. You might try Italian Firearms Group in Amarillo TX. They are the ones Pedersoli suggested I try to get my spring from.

    I did. They responded to tell me they were shut down for the summer but I could contact their USA partner in Amarillo TX. When I originally tried to order from Pedersoli I could only get euros to come up not US dollars.
