    If I were shooting competitions, I would have a couple of inches hanging off the end when stored. I see no reason for the rod to match the length of the barrel? You can have an extra foot of length just of loading.

    I’ve put together other kits as well as Kiblers for others. I felt just as good or better handing over the Kibler rifle. I have three myself. I can’t think of a better thing to hand down to a child interested in such things.

    I have never shot a 1” group at 100 yds. with round ball gun. I have shot a 2.5” at 110 yards and was proud of it as I can not do it everyday. I did not spend years reading wind.     Occasionally but not every time one shots a few rounds, unless the gun will be stored afterward for a length of time. I can only assume that my flintlocks have a tighter fit than those you use. Rarely does one using absolutes prove correct. However this should be on another thread as it is not...

    I do apologize for not ignoring your comment earlier. I do not own a Pedersoli. They might be built so as to need more detailed cleaning due to loose fitting lock etc.

    I’ve done a few. I’ve used Jax Black. I’ve browned but I rust blued my last Woodsrunner. It is my gun that I hunt with. I will never do one for me that is not rust blued. It is now my favorite. I don’t care if someone says it wasn’t done. Many use short starters. Did they exist at that time?
