    I think there might have been a flint Hawken early on. They just haven’t been found. The time period suggests that possibility.

    My nephew takes me hunting. I no longer have a desire to kill a large buck. I will shoot a doe to eat. He paYs for the lease and I don’t feel I have the right to kill a Buck as a guest. I am fine with that.

    What twist would be right for roundball in a 40 caliber ?

    I might decide what I wanted the gun for. Hunting Squirrels or 25 yard targets might be better served with a faster twist. Mine is 1-48 and it seems to shoot good with two different load. 27.5 and 55 grns of 3F. I would ask the maker.

    As I understand, the .40 barrels and smaller are all 1-48 twist. The .45 and above are 1-70.
