    First range trip with Woodsrunner

I am lucky to shoot 3” at 100 meters. I do not yet shoot with wind flags. My 50 has the same twist rate as this and shoots pretty decent with most loads. I got my SMR in 40 to get the faster twist but yes it does not carry as well. with groups like that, do you shoot at Brady?

    First range trip with Woodsrunner

My finished .54 Woods Runner came in at 7 lbs. It balance and carries much better than either my Colonial .50 or SMR in .40. Th SMR is lighter but balances too far forward. I took it to the range and set up at 25 yards. I was just going to get the sights set etc. The first group was with 60...

Could this be the best Round Ball Patch lube?

I tried it yesterday. I did not think it was great. My gun was a lot dirtier than his.

I was ready to compliment the tang inlay until you made the girlfriend comment regarding your phallic muzzle modification. one generally cones the inside of the muzzle.

A full led wadcutters is under 800 fps in a 6” bbl.

One has to get lead moving quickly to make deposits in the bore.

    Rust blue vs Jax

I used the Laurel Mountain stuff. All it required was patience and hot weather.

    Rust blue vs Jax

Yessir. The top is a Colonial and the bottom a Woodsrunner.

    Rust blue vs Jax

The top is Jax Black for copper. The gun has been shot a lot. The bottom is my first effort at Rust bluing. It will be my preferred method if I do anymore. I wish I had known how to do this 40 years ago. Opinions

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

    Barrel Condition

Police Pistol Combat(PPC) is shot with full .38 lead wadcutters and still has a following. My agency of 28 years dominates it. One can shoot those until carbon deposits bind the cylinder.

The Items of Faith. The Dogma of Muzzleloading.com

Yes. Englishman were changing the language way before coming here. It is the way of mankind since the beginning yet in the near future it will change. I enjoyed going to Isle of Skye and hearing them talk. I had difficulty understanding them but they understood every word I said. Many are...

    Wood grade 5

It is pretty standard. I dye with Honey amber Trans Tint, then iron nitrate and Aqua Fortis, sometimes twice. I heat but cannot really see much change I sand back with the Chambers oil. I might add some more dye until I get the color my wife says is not ugly. The Chambers does have some dye in it.

    Wood grade 5

I had to try it once. This one is mine. I have no plans to build anymore for myself, if I do it will be plain.

    Wood grade 5

I got an above grade Kibler stock but it was not 600. I think it was $450 Upcharge. I did see some guns made for Louis 14th of France. I don’t think that type of walnut exists anymore.

    Painting a stock.

I suppose if one ran out of BLO he could melt plastic grocery bags. Seems to have the same effect In my recent experience. Perhaps it is too hot in my region.

    Painting a stock.

Mr. Evil, may we call you Uncle Evil? I don‘t like that stock but since I don’t understand demonic symbolism, my opinion comes from a perception of ignorance.

    My Kibler SMR Build Log

I suppose we are bewildered by the childish comments and that lack of respect for those vastly more experienced.I have respect for pilots but could not pass the color test. The students in the FFDO program were very good. We had some very good low altitude pilots in my agency before helicopters...
