    Pat 1858 Enfield Paper Cartridges

Nice work Heelerau! I just got my first Enfield from an SA member, a PH 1858. Cast some Minies ready to shoot it for the first time. Hope to see you at the club.

One off, done by proper craftsman? He tells you what the fair price is.

    German cheek stock plan?

No-one knows where there might be such a plan? I just have this recollection of seeing sections through a cheek stock once, but not where. Now I am getting all fired up to make a series of stocks for that barrel, to try out the various types - petronel, cheek stock, paddle butt, and so on.

    My old Matchlock Fortress Gun

Over at vikingsword.com the knowledgeable contributor Matchlock (sadly now deceased) posted a number of period pictures of 1400s/1500s guns on saw-horse-like tripods. I suspect that what we call wall guns may often have been used in the field on those tripods, because they are quite maneuverable.

    German cheek stock plan?

A while back someone had a plan with cross-sections for a German cheek type stock. Anyone remember where to find that? I have been watching Bolek post his work and think a cheek stock and wheellock with supplementary matchlock would be a great use for my Mortimer shotgun barrel, while the .54...

    Whitworth cannon?

Very interesting. I don't think it looks like and Armstrong. The Armstrong RBL (rifled breech-loaders) introduced in the mid 1850s were superseded by the RML (rifled muzzle-loaders) about 1865. They hadn't performed well over time. Armstrong RBL2 Armstrong RBL1 Armstrong 6-pdrs There...

    What is a Mini Cannon?

That is so much clearer. Mini cannon is like Mini Mart - just a term without a formal or obvious definition, so naturally I didn't answer your original post. YEEHA for scale replica cannon. Real ones are great too!

    matchlock squirrel rifle

Sounds like incitement to replace a flint lock on a rifle with a snap- matchlock... :surrender: but my Mortimer might not be the best victim of such an improvement. But I am sure very few matchlocks were ever rifled. Have you got an original in mind? I saw a bunch of apparent Germanic wheellock...

    My brand new wheellock pistol

Get you rgunsmith to make a new wheel as spare. The flint consumes the ridges on it and it will not last long. Pyrite will last much longer. Apart from that congratulations on a most interesting piece.

    Cannon Paintball?

It sounds like awesome fun! :hatsoff: A three-pounder for a fun gun would be so good.

    Cannon Paintball?

Maybe 'load grape' with a paper bag of those perforated golf air-balls? bright orange and spectacular, y Also, consider a discarding sabot rather than a canister. A well-shaped three-piece sabot out of balsa or softwood, with a small frangible ball like a well-chosen clay clod or a clay ball...

Sorry, my mistake I didn't go back to the picture and remembered a different inlet I had seen. Looks hand done as you say.

    Doc Help: Landsknecht Matchlock Pistol?

If as you say the inletting supports the spring against its working load that brings two things to mind. First, the French had different ideas to the English and Germans on that kind of thing; for instance wasn't there a French wheel-lock style that mounted the inner pivot of the wheel and the...

    Jim Alcock Matchlock Pistol.

The owners of those pistols shot extremely good scores with them. Your pistol looks very interesting. What's the story you mentioned?
