    Hunting tips

I don't know if anybody else does but after loading I cut a round patch of duck tape the diameter of the barrel, and tape off the muzzle. I keep a few wraps around my powder flask. Keeps water out of the barrel and blows right off long before the bullet gets to it. I use a caplock so can't...

    Where to buy lead shot?

Where in the Masshole are you located? I can check some shops in Berkshire county if you are close. Also a few in S.Vt in Bennington area. Do you just need shot or buckshot and PRBs too. For deer lead conicals are legal too.

    Vermont Black Powder Firearm Laws

It the ******* liberals moving to Vermont that are screwing things up. Each year some leftist politician will propose new restrictions. As mentioned constitutional carry, but they added unconstitutional mag capacity limit and red flag laws. 40 years ago those politicians would have been...

    Buffalo Bullet Company

I use them in a renegade I have with a fast twist 1-28 GM barrel. They shoot real good. Accurate 70-90gr FFg, kick goes up a lot at 90gr. I load 80gr over an oxyoke wad when I hunt with them. Years back I got a nearly lifetime supply. There was an Ebay auction with a full box of 720. I won...

    frozen game question

Haven't done it with bear, but I've frozen deer hindquarters whole, leaving membrane on to help with freezer burn. Then we'd take a clean sawsall/blade and just cut it into steaks, while still frozen. Need two people, one to hold the meat the other to saw. The frozen steaks would get vacuum...

Where to hunt bear/whitetail with trad muzzleloader

Surprised only one mention of Maine. Deer overlaps bear season in November (1st-27th). Plenty of of registered Maine Guides. Nit Wit's offer is generous. Vermont Deer/Bear overlap too, but only Nov 14th-22nd.

shot in a .54 hawken barrel?

If you have a TC 1" barrel you might be able to find a 56cal renegade smoothbore barrel, and/or GM made some 62/20 ga drop-in barrels too. A company called Toledo also made 12ga drop-in barrels for TC in 15/16 and 1". I've got one they came with a pretty tight choke.

    What was your first Muzzleloader?

Lyman Plains Rifle (like Investarm Hawken). I got it used from a friend who had let me borrow it to hunt deer. Two barrels, .58 rifle and .62 smoothbore. Still have it

Help to I.D. some bullet molds.

That's about list price for new molds, but they are all backordered. The minnie mold without the base plug is going to pee out hot lead all over!

Help to I.D. some bullet molds.

See the chart I posted above. The OS and PH suffixes are for "old style" and "Parker Hale". My mold has a HM with the H superscript. We'll sort this out ..........

    Who got the bunny?

I forgot about the raptors. There is a few resident owls: barred, great horned, rarely a grey, every few years a snowy in winter. A few Sawhet but they are too small for rabbits on the menu. Hawks: redtails, and Coopers.
